Demon Ember
Resurrection Chronicles #1
by M.J. Haag
&
Becca Vincenza
Goodreads blurb: Mya’s world is falling apart. After a series
of earthquakes, deadly animals with glowing red eyes begin attacking people and
start the spread of a zombie-like plague. Safety is just a memory as she tries
to make her way home. When a different creature attacks the people helping her
reach Oklahoma City, Mya is sure she’ll never see the light of another day.
Despite his eerie yellow eyes and very sharp teeth, the grey-skinned creature is more intelligent and humanlike than he first appears. He’s determined to keep Mya by his side and protect her from the new world’s dangers. When his path starts taking her further away from home, she must choose between safety and her family.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5
Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review
based on what intrigues me!! I won a copy of this book in a
giveaway, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!
This
is the first book in this series, and my first time reading anything by M.J. or
Becca. I do own several of Melissa’s
books, and I just bought one of Becca’s because I loved this book so much! This book was an unexpected delight to
read! I should warn you though that it
ends in a cliffhanger way which is killing me because I want more and to know
what happens next. I’d say this
classifies as a New Adult as the main character Mya is in college. There is lots of violence not making it
appropriate from younger readers.
When
I started reading this book, I never read the blurb. Sometimes, I like to be surprised, and I
definitely was because I didn’t know this was a post-apocalyptic zombie type of
book. The book starts with Mya and her
roommate studying in their dorm room, but they are watching the news. I was pulled into the story and didn’t even
realize it. Mya and Drav are quite the
pair, and Drav is very protective of Mya.
He is learning English as Mya talks to him. I don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll
just tell you that this book is amazing and has tons of action.
I
highly recommend this book to any reader who like post-apocalyptic books of
survival mixed with fantasy and zombies, and if cliffhangers both you, you may
want to wait until the series finishes and read them at that time. I hate waiting, but I will because this book
was fantastic! For now, I’m not so
patiently waiting for the next book!
