Review @HolleyTrent - The Coyote's Chance by Holley Trent (Masters of Maria #4)

The Coyote's Chance
Masters of Maria #4
by Holley Trent

Goodreads blurb:  It’s a literal fight for love in this fast-moving shifter tale in the popular Masters of Maria series.

For coyote shifter Blue Shapely, becoming the new alpha of Maria’s pack is his long-awaited chance to be his own man and eliminate chaos from the town. Unfortunately, the pack’s patron is thwarting him at every turn.

After being magically attached to the Coyote group for more than a century, demigoddess Willa Matheson has a soft spot for them—even the dangerous ones threatening to expose them to humans. She may have hired Blue to rein in the pack, but the two constantly disagree on strategy. She doesn’t want to upset anyone, whereas he’ll do whatever it takes to get his Coyotes in line. And to make things worse: all signs point to the anxious demigoddess being his mate.

But developing a tenderness for Willa will be an obstacle to Blue’s determination to be as ruthless as he needs to be. If the duo can’t find a way to retract their claws, and soon, it may be too late to protect the pack’s secret—and their own hearts.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!  I will collect this whole series eventually!

The cover is not my favorite because I usually like the animals more present on the cover.

This is the 4th book in the series, and it is for adults only.  I couldn’t put this book down.  I highly recommend reading the series in order because the series together is worth more than each part individually.  I really love this world that Holley Trent has created in Maria, and I will continue reading all of her works.

This is Blue and Willa’s story.  If you have read this series, you know these characters and how they came to be acquainted.  I did not really understand Willa until this book.  My heart broke for her and all she has endured in the past and present.  Blue is trying to gain his freedom from his father.  I really like Blue’s sister too!  I hope she gets to have her HEA too!  I enjoyed their story and all the twists and turns along the way.

I highly recommend to any paranormal fans who love complex mixed worlds with angels, demons, demigods/goddesses, gods/goddesses, shifters, fae, witches, and so much more.  This was an awesome read, and I can’t wait to see what Holley comes up with next in Maria!

Lullaby
The Sand Maiden #1
by L.R.W. Lee

Goodreads blurb:  You've heard of the Sand Man. Meet his counterpart, the Sand Maiden.

She’s been doing it her entire immortal existence. But when the most powerful king in Dream realm sets his sights on her current charge, Prince Kovis Altairn, to exploit him in his quest to conquer Wake realm, Ali has no choice but to flee and pray the sovereign doesn’t hunt her down.

Prince Kovis Altairn, crown prince and the most powerful sorcerer in the Altairn Empire, knows nothing about Dream realm, let alone his sand maiden. So when Ali is discovered naked in his bedroom, how will she convince him of her intentions, as well as the danger?

"L.R.W. Lee brings an amazing new realm (literally!) to new adult fantasy. It's sure to please fans of sorcerers, princes, kickass fight scenes, epic magic, and dazzling romance. Did I mention this is all in one book?" - Rachel E. Carter, USA Today bestselling author

"I'm enthralled. The book has held me captive since I received it...You have me in the spot I love/hate. It's so good, and I want the next right now. I thoroughly enjoyed the humor woven in this story. A lovely conclusion to this--a nice tease. I want more!!!" - Peggy Frese, Senior Editor

The Sand Maiden is a NA Epic Fantasy Romance with YA appeal. If you loved Sarah J. Maas' A Court of Thorns and Roses, Elise Kova's Air Awakens, and/or Rachel E. Carter's The Black Mage you'll definitely love this.

WARNING: Mature content including sexual abuse. Recommended for 18+.

About the Author:  Since the age of eight, L. R. W. Lee wanted to write a children’s book, but felt she did not have anything significant to share; she sought to change lives while entertaining. A degree in Accounting did not provide riveting fodder for a best seller, so she waited. Over a decade, she founded and grew a company, during which, she worked closely with a mentor from whom she learned uncommon thinking that changed her life. After selling her business in early 2012, she had time to write and, more importantly, something significant to share.

L. R. W. Lee lives in scenic Austin, TX with her husband, daughter and son.

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

The cover is perfect for this new world and intriguing!

This is the first book in a new series that is considered New Adult which means you should be at least 18 to read this series due to the mature content.

Wow, this book was intense and full of drama, intrigue, treachery, magic, and more!  This world is just as amazing as Andy Smithson’s world but more adult.  Ali is amazing, and she must endure so much.  Her strength and love are beautiful.  I can’t say the royal family is my favorite, but Kovis does redeem himself in my eyes at the end!

The author is a magical story teller, and her talent amazes me.  This was an emotional story that had me on a rollercoaster with Ali.  Be warned that the ending leaves you wanting for book 2 immediately!  I need to know what happens next.

I highly recommend to anyone who wants a magical story that has life’s messiness and makes for a wonderful tale of magical worlds and fantasy that really intrigues!

Review @JessieDauthor - The Heir by Jessie Donovan (Kelderan Runic Warriors #3)

The Heir
Kelderan Runic Warriors #3
by Jessie Donovan

Goodreads blurb:  Twenty-three years ago, Azalyn Rippak Sulani had the misfortune of falling in love with a prince. It wasn’t long before she was chased away and forced to live a quiet life, working for a merchant family and trying her best to start over. However, after a group of aliens kidnap her and knock her unconscious, Azalyn wakes up in the Kelderan palace and comes face-to-face with the man who broke her heart. Because of certain circumstances, she has no choice but to stay in the palace. But to protect her heart and those she loves, she’s determined to find ways to resist the powerful prince and his secrets.

Prince Keltor tro el Vallen is heir to the Kelderan throne and must put duty above all else. Social connections, especially those with love involved, are dangerous. So when the only female who ever treated him as a man instead of a prince comes storming back into his life, it takes everything Keltor has to keep his distance and resist the lively, straightforward woman. Otherwise, he might start to wish for what he can’t have.

As Keltor and Azalyn start to realize that they fit better together now than in the past, they face a bigger problem. Namely, if a prince marries a commoner, there could be war. Can they find a way to recapture their love and start over? Or, will Keltor’s duty to Keldera trump all?

About the Author:  Jessie Donovan wrote her first story at age five, and after discovering the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey in junior high, realized that people actually wanted to read stories like those floating around inside her head. From there on out, she was determined to tap into her over-active imagination and write a book someday.

After living abroad for five years and earning degrees in Japanese, Anthropology, and Secondary Education, she buckled down and finally wrote her first full-length book. While that story will never see the light of day, it laid the world-building groundwork of what would become her debut paranormal romance, Blaze of Secrets.

Jessie loves to interact with readers. When not reading or traipsing around some foreign country on a shoestring, can often be found on Facebook and Twitter.

The one thing you'll find in all of Jessie's stories are strong, capable women and the people who love them.

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

The cover is awesome, but I’m partial to purple :)

This is the 3rd book in the series, and it is for adults only due to the steamy content.  While not mandatory, I highly recommend reading the series in order because it is so much more all together!

Wow who knew royalty could have so many secrets!  This book is full of change and revelations that Keldera needs, but there is also a lot of treachery, manipulation, and maneuvering throughout the book.  This is Keltor and Azalyn’s story.  It includes background and things you won’t see coming.  Aza is strong and amazing for all she has endured.  Keltor is trying to make change, but he also wants his bride.  This story is action packed, and I couldn’t put it down.  As always I don’t want to give anything away because that is your adventure in reading.

Jessie Donovan always weaves a fantastic story, and this is my favorite in the series so far.  I do believe it will keep getting better.  I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next because she always surprises me!

I highly recommend to any sci-fi fans who love aliens, romance, battles, and more!  I want more of this world!

Review @HolleyTrent - The Wolf's Joy by Holley Trent (Masters of Maria #3)

The Wolf's Joy
Masters of Maria #3
by Holley Trent

Goodreads blurb:  A holiday hook-up leads to a lifetime of love in this charming story continuing the adventures of the Masters of Maria series.

Alex Cavanaugh is used to fielding odd requests at her waitressing job. She would have never predicted, though, that she’d get brazenly propositioned for a one-night stand with a needy werewolf—or that she’d be lonely enough to tell him yes.

Ben Swain’s inner wolf has been howling for him to take a permanent mate, but he’s terrified of change. He’s clawed his way to status and respect from his pack and doesn’t want to sacrifice that for anything. A short tryst while he’s visiting Maria, New Mexico, before the holidays is supposed to be a stopgap measure to keep his wolf hormones in check, but Ben’s animal side wants more of Alex.

Although she’s a human, quirky Alex’s go-with-the-flow, practical personality perfectly complements Ben’s wild intensity. But after being burned by men before, her budding horticulture career has become her number one priority. Sure, she wants love, but she’d rather be alone than with someone who isn’t fully committed. So why can’t she seem to resist Ben?

If the two can’t figure out a way to balance the two most important things in their lives, all they’ll be getting for Christmas is regret.

The cover is sexy!  I love that both beasts are on the cover!

This is the 3rd book in this series!  It is for adults only due to the steamy content.  I highly recommend reading the books in order because they are much better when you do!  This is about 128 pages long and a quick read.

This was a great story, and the wolves are quirky and hilarious!  Alex is a waitress, and she is a rare human who is in the know about all the paranormals in Maria.  Ben is a sweet wolf who works hard, and he is looking for a fix and instead finds a mate.

I highly recommend to any paranormal fans who love mixed worlds with witches, fae, shifters, angels, and demons!  Holley writes awesome stories that are hard to put down because they are that good!

Review @PaigeCuccaro - Werebiker by Paige Cuccaro

Werebiker
by Paige Cuccaro

Goodreads blurb:  Years after she thought she left town for good, Jillian is back and has enlisted the help of her older brother’s ex-best friend (and the man who broke her heart), Jack, to track down her sister-in-law, who’s fallen in with a rival biker gang—but Jack knows they’re werewolves, and that he has to protect Jillian at any cost, even if she hates him.

About the Author:  Wife, Mother, tax payer, writer.

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

The cover is intriguing and what attracted me to the book!

This is my first time reading a book by this author.  As far as I can tell this is a standalone book that is not part of a series.  This book is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content.

Jillian is a fighter, and she won’t back down from what she believes is right.  She is protective of her family, and she is still in love with Jack.  Jack looks at being a werewolf as a curse, so he tries to stay away from everyone he knows until Jillian walks back into his life trying to find out what happened to her brother’s wife because he is still overseas.  There is all sorts of trouble and revelations along the way.  It was definitely an interesting and unique story.

I recommend this story to any werewolf fan who wants a unique story with bikers!  I will be checking out more of Paige’s work in the future!

Review @DBReynoldsWrite @Bellebooks - Relentless by D.B. Reynolds (Vampires in America #11.5)

Relentless
Vampires in America #11.5
by D.B. Reynolds

Goodreads blurb: TREACHERY . . . Something the powerful Vampire Lord Raphael has seen far too much of lately.

RAGE . . . An emotion that, left unchecked, can burn like the fires of hell.

REVENGE . . . A dish that philosophers claim is best served cold.

It’s been months since the powerful French vampire Mathilde used Raphael’s arrogance against him and nearly succeeded in taking his life. His fury has grown stronger with every day since, fed by new bloody incursions onto North American soil by the Europeans, while vampire politicking has forced him to wait. But no longer. Someone has attacked his home, killing vampires, threatening Cyn. They’ve taken it one step too far, and Raphael’s tired of waiting. His enemies are about to discover that revenge can taste damn good when it’s hot, too.

D. B. Reynolds is the RT and EPIC Award-Winning author of the Vampires in America series of paranormal romance, and an Emmy-nominated television sound editor. She lives in a flammable canyon near Los Angeles, and when she’s not writing her own books, she can usually be found reading someone else’s. The cover is another Cyn and Raphael steamy kiss, so it is perfect!

This is a novella in the Vampires in America series.  It is book 11.5, and it is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content.  I highly recommend reading all of the books in this series and in order because it is just awesome all together and knowing the backstories and lead up to everything.

Both Raphael and Cyn are as devoted to each other as always, and neither will stand for the other being hurt.  This book is the lead up to Quinn’s book, and it provides backstory about him.  It also provides Raphael with some vengeance regarding all of the attacks on him and those he considers his.  D.B. was definitely on her game because I didn’t see several things coming, and it is always nice when it is unpredictable and leaves you surprised though I did scream inside.

I highly recommend to any vampire fans because this series rocks!!  I can’t wait for Quinn’s story!!

Review @ChrstineWarren - Something to Howl About by Christine Warren (Alphaville #0.5)

Something
to Howl About
Alphaville #0.5
by Christine Warren

Goodreads blurb:  WELCOME TO ALPHAVILLE, where the she-wolves and alpha-males play. . .for keeps, in a brand-new paranormal romance series from New York Times bestselling author Christine Warren.

Dr. Annie Cryer has been called many things: Genius. Child prodigy. Scientific wonder.

Wolf Shifter.

Banished from her pack years ago, Annie’s lone wolf wandering has brought her to Alpha, Washington, home to all shifters who don't quite fit in in the "normal" shifter word. Now Annie has the chance to go back home...if only she can make good on a favor her alpha owes the mayor of “Alphaville.” But it's not much of a favor when you're helping the hottest shifter in town...

Grizzly shifter Jonas Browning has a clan in trouble. They haven't had a child born in over a hundred years...and their clan faces going completely extinct. Genetic scientist Anne Cryer has been sent to help save them. But what Jonas doesn't count on is being irresistibly drawn to the small wolf shifter, and his bear isn't about to let her go...

About the Author:  Born and raised in coastal New England, Christine Warren lived in the South and the Mid-Atlantic before hopping to the other side of the country to take up the life of a transplant in the Pacific Northwest. She completely bypassed those states in the middle due to her landlocking phobia. Hmm, need to research a scientific term for that...

When not scrambling frantically to complete her latest writing project, Christine spends most of her time as a crazy animal lady, hanging out with her dog Levi (he’s the one with the hair) and pretending to train him to have some manners. She also hangs out with her horse, Cal—a thoroughbred with a craving for strawberry licorice twists—her goddog, Merlin; and her best friend, fellow author Hannah Murray. In addition to playing with her pets, Christine’s hobbies include identifying dog breeds from photos of their underbellies, appreciating fine and not-so-fine wines, shopping for the perfect pair of Christian Louboutin shoes, and most of all reading things someone else had to agonize over.

She enjoys hearing from readers and can be reached via email sent to Christine@christinewarren.net or by postal mail to Christine Warren, PO Box 871900, Vancouver, WA 98687-1900.

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!  I usually buy Christine Warren’s books in paperback!!

The cover is beautiful! I like it!

This is a prequel in a new series called Alphaville by Christine Warren which is a spin-off from The Others series.  This is an adult series, and this is only a novella about 86 pages.

This was a quick read, but it is full of detail and a great story as is the usual for this author.  I really like Annie.  You see her grow because she was a loner and skittish in the beginning, and once the scientist comes out, she is very confident and in her element.  Jonas started out good, and then he turned into an idiot for a while until his mom straightens him out.  Even though there isn’t the action I usually crave, this was entertaining, and I couldn’t put it down.

I highly recommend to any shifter fan especially if you already love Christine’s work!  I can’t wait to read book 1!
