Review @AuthorKALinde - Blood Type by K.A. Linde (Blood Type #1)

Blood Type
Blood Type #1
by K.A. Linde

Goodreads blurb:  A startling new vision of paranormal romance: When a human ventures into the world of vampires—a decadent milieu of blood-bonds and betrayal—she discovers that not all is what it seems.

For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival.

In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her.

Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed.

For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her.

Note: Reyna and Beckham’s story continues in Blood Match.

This ebook includes an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

The cover is okay, but it doesn’t really say paranormal/vampires!

This is the first book in a new Vampire series, and it is the first time I’ve read anything by this author.  This is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content!  Also it does end in a cliffhanger which had me screaming because I wanted to know what happened next!

This world is very interesting and unique.  I haven’t read anything quite like it before.  Humanity is suffering, and Reyna is just trying to help her family the only way she can.  This world twists and turns and keeps you guessing.  I kept reading not quite sure what would happen next or if I would understand the implications of each new thing discovered.  I still have a lot of questions about the vampires in this world as well as the politics.  I like Beckham, but he definitely had some moments where I wanted to slap him.  I need to know what happens to both Reyna and Beckham!

I high recommend to any Vamp fans who need a unique world that you haven’t seen before!  I can’t wait for the next book!!

Review @DBReynoldsWrite @Bellebooks - Quinn by D.B. Reynolds (Vampires in America #12)

Quinn
Vampires in America #12
by D.B. Reynolds

Goodreads blurb:  Vampires in America: The Vampire Wars, Book 12
Ireland—a land of magic and fantasy, of fierce warrior kings and fairy mounds . . . and, of course, vampires who’ve been around for nearly as long as those beguiling fey.

Brilliant and ambitious, Quinn Kavanagh was aiming for the top, even before he was turned. But now, as a powerful vampire lord, he’s driven by the demands of his blood, compelled to conquer and destroy, to defeat Ireland’s criminal ruler, and make the territory a better place for all its vampires and humans alike.

Smart and beautiful, Eve Connelly was a graduate student with life’s endless possibilities stretched out before her. She knew nothing of vampires and didn’t care . . . until she watched two of them murder her beloved brother. Now she’s driven, too. But she doesn’t want to help Ireland’s vampires—she just wants to kill them.

Bound together by love and hate, Quinn and Eve will risk everything to bring down the bloody regime of Ireland’s current vampire ruler. But in order to find revenge for Eve and the ultimate power for Quinn, they first have to learn to trust each other. And that might be the most dangerous thing of all . . . .

About the Author:  D.B. Reynolds is the award-winning author of the popular Vampires in America series, as well as other paranormal fiction. ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

The cover has the usual very sexy vampire though you can’t tell he’s a vamp!

This is the 12th book in the Vampires in America series, and it is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content!  While not mandatory, you will love this series a whole lot more if you read them all including short stories and novellas in order!  I don’t like not knowing about an event when it is mentioned!  This is one of my favorite series!  I don’t own them all yet, but one day I will!

This is Quinn’s story of taking over Ireland and his Eve.  The story was a page turner as always in this world!  I couldn’t put it down!  I like the alpha male vampires in this world and their protective side!  Quinn is definitely a powerhouse with a fiery side as far as vampire lords go.  Eve is a strong woman out for revenge against the vamps who killed her brother.  Can they work together to accomplish both of their missions?  I guess you will have to read it to find out because I’m not telling!

D.B. Reynolds always tells a fantastic story with all sorts of twists and turns in her complicated worlds that you can’t help but love!  I can’t wait to see what her genius-self cooks up next!

I highly recommend to any Vampire fans who want action-packed romance with fierce vamps!

Excerpt and Review @ChristineAmsden - Frozen by Christine Amsden (Cassie Scot #7)

Frozen
Cassie Scot #7
by Christine Amsden

Goodreads Blurb:  Apparently, life doesn’t end when you get married.

When a couple freezes to death on a fifty degree day, Cassie is called in to investigate. The couple ran a daycare out of their home, making preschoolers the key witnesses and even the prime suspects.

Two of those preschoolers are Cassie’s youngest siblings, suggesting conditions at home are worse than she feared. As Cassie struggles to care for her family, she must face the truth about her mother’s slide into depression, which seems to be taking the entire town with it.

Then Cassie, too, is attacked by the supernatural cold. She has to think fast to survive, and her actions cause a rift between her and her husband.

No, life doesn’t end after marriage. All hell can break loose at any time.

Excerpt from Chapter 1:

Apparently, life doesn’t end when you get married. I suppose that’s obvious, but it’s hard to tell from the way Happily Ever After stories dominate our culture. At any rate, marriage seemed like such a solid conclusion to the stories I had to tell that I ended my first four memoirs the day I married Evan Blackwood.
If only I’d known then that all hell was about to break loose.
My name is Cassandra Morgan Ursula Margaret Blackwood, and if you think that’s a mouthful, go ahead and call me Cassie. Most of my friends still do, although I no longer feel unworthy of the full appellation.
To be fair to my younger self, eager to share her journey of self-discovery with the world in the wake of some powerful events, things were quiet for almost two years. More happened to my two best friends than to me during that time. Oh sure, I consulted with the sheriff’s department here and there on cases that mystified them. I also worked with my husband and a dozen others to form and support the White Guard, an organization attempting to unify and protect the magical world. We made some big gains when Matthew was able to convince most of the magical world that his nemesis was using blood magic to control people’s minds – including mine and my husband’s.
It was a sobering moment for us.
But mostly during that time, I grew a baby and took care of her. I always wanted children, maybe because I’m the oldest of nine and having kids around seemed natural.
Anastasia Blackwood turned one in mid-December, right around the time my youngest siblings, Michael and Maya, both turned two. Honestly, I would have preferred to have two separate parties – or even three – to give each child his or her due attention, but my mom wasn’t up to it. She wasn’t up to much anymore, including party planning, so it fell to me and Juliana, seventeen now and pretty much already an adult. The last two years had aged her, as the responsibility for raising Michael and Maya fell heavily upon her shoulders.
The day started normally enough. Juliana, with Michael and Maya in tow, arrived at my place several hours before the party to decorate. My two best friends, Madison and Kaitlin, came to help too, the latter with a one-year-old son of her own. Madison, pregnant but not showing just yet, volunteered to keep the toddlers out of trouble. “For practice,” she said, although we all knew she was doing us a favor. I’d return that favor as soon as she realized how badly moms need breaks sometimes.
Yeah, I know, babies and birthday parties and maybe life really does end when you get married. Or at least loses its sex appeal. Although for the record, I still found Evan as sexy as ever. I mean, the man could drive me to orgasm with a single, magical kiss.
      Damn, but it was addictive.

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I bought my own copy of this book too!

This is the 7th book in the Cassie Scot series!  I highly recommend reading the series in order because you want to know the history and stuff that has happened to characters throughout the journey!  I think the series is more for adults due to content and complexities of relationships.

I love this series and world.  It is complex, and it definitely takes a jog into the new and unknown in this book.  Strange things are happening in town, and as usual Cassie is asked by the Sherriff to help.  Cassie has missed some things about her family, but now she is noticing amidst all the chaos of the trouble that has found its way to the lake.  Her daughter Ana is adorable and a force to be reckoned with.  Cassie is having a lot of trouble with self-doubt, and it is starting to affect all of her relationships.  I love that the series isn’t over and that new things are happening!  I can’t wait to see what happens next to all of these characters because I’m very intrigued!

I highly recommend to any paranormal fan who loves mystery and intrigue with their magical users and creatures that go with it!

Review @ZoeChantebooks - Tropical Panther's Penance by Zoe Chant (Shifting Sands Resort #6)

Tropical Panther's Penance
Shifting Sands Resort #6
by Zoe Chant

Goodreads blurb:  He ain't no one’s idea of a true mate.

Panther shifter Wrench hasn't got the first frickin’ clue about poems and flowers and all that crap. But he’s gonna learn, or die trying. He ain’t giving up on the best thing to ever happen to him. Lucky he’s got new friends at Shifting Sands Resort to teach him how to woo a lady right…

Yoga instructor Lydia and her inner swan always knew she’d meet her one true mate, but she never imagined a tattooed, six-foot-six felon. She has to have faith that he’s her perfect match…but why won’t he let her get to know the real man under those sexy muscles?

When danger from Wrench’s past comes calling, he’s suddenly got more to worry about than how to deliver a compliment without making it sound like a death threat. Now he has to protect his new home from his old boss, keep his nosy eight-year old niece out of trouble and under wraps, and win his mate. Without getting killed, sacked, or slapped.

Life workin’ for the mob ain’t nothing compared to the dangers of romance…

Combining laugh-out-loud humor with sizzling heat, the Shifting Sands Resort series will sweep you away to a tropical paradise where clothing is optional but the romance isn’t! All the books are standalone and can be read in any order.

Contains steamy scenes between a Latina heroine and a hunky, tattooed felon with a heart of gold. If you’re looking for a hilarious, multicultural paranormal romance, pick up a copy of Tropical Panther’s Penance today!

About the Author:  Zoe Chant loves writing paranormal romance. Over a cup of tea (or something stronger) she whips up sexy tales of hunky heroes and adventurous heroines to tantalize and satisfy her readers. Sizzling hot romance, no cliffhangers!

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!  I buy all of Zoe Chant’s books because I love her HEAs and her style of writing!  I do own this whole series and can’t wait for more!

The cover is sexy, and my favorite kind with both beautiful beasts!

This is the 6th book in the series, and it is for adults only due to the steamy content.  While it is not mandatory to read the series in order, you are missing out if you don’t read them all because it is so much better with character background and group dynamics!

This is Lydia and Wrench’s story!  Lydia runs the spa, and she has been off island for a while.  She returns and knows her mate is on the island.  Wrench is new to the island from Jenny’s story or was it her twin’s story.  Anyway, they are both from different worlds, and they are both thinking too much about what should be happening.  There is trouble of course, but Lydia takes charge to solve it.  There is some treachery, action, and romance.  It was a great story that I couldn’t put down.

I highly recommend to any shifter fan especially if you love Zoe Chant’s style and mixed paranormal worlds with HEA endings!
