My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!

The cover is awesome!  Both beasts look beautiful!

This is the 2nd book in the series.  It is for adults only due to the steamy scenes.

I’m glad that this is Mark’s story.  I was wondering about him in the first book.  Julie and Mark have a history where they both read too much into things that happened in their pasts.  I love Julie’s character because I like to admire the characters rather than hate them.  I don’t want to spoil anything, so all I will tell you is that there is plenty of action in this book, and I couldn’t put it down.

I highly recommend to anyone who loves bear shifters and especially if you already love Kathy Lyons, you will want to read this story!

Review @BKMcMichael - The Day Human Way by B. Kristin McMichael (Day Human Trilogy #3)

The Day Human Way
The Day Human Trilogy #3
by B. Kristin McMichael

Goodreads blurb:  Book Three of The Day Human Trilogy
Book Six in The Night Human World

Devin thought his stay with the sidhe would be short. That soon changed when he found out that he loved Nessa, but love just might not be enough. She has other suitors, and Devin isn’t sure if he wants to go through that again. Too bad for him, suitors are the least of his problems. On the eve of Nessa’s coronation, Devin finds himself framed for using magic he doesn’t possess. With his sidhe powers he’s the only one who knows that the magic harming people around Nessa comes not from nature, but from the witches. Good thing Devin knows a witch or two himself, but will it be in time to save everything and get Nessa on the throne?

About the Author:  Originally from Wisconsin, B. Kristin currently resides in Ohio with her husband, two small children, and three cats. The cover is another work of art!

This is the 3rd book in the series.  It is a YA series and the 2nd series in the Night Human World.

I always enjoy the books from this series.  The sidhe are a tricky and complicated race of people.  They are always throwing complications Devin’s way.  This book is no exception.  There is a lot going on and surprises throughout.  This is a great YA series.  If you have a student who loves paranormal and fantasy type books, then this world is for them.

I can’t wait to see where the next series in the Night Human world, and I hope to see Cassie again in this book as well as the rest of my favorite Night Human World characters.

I recommend this series and world to all the YA lovers of paranormal and fantasy worlds!

Review @valeromance - Taste of Darkness by Catherine Vale

Taste of Darkness
BBW Paranormal Vampire Romance
by Catherine Vale

Goodreads blurb:  Natalya should have known better than to watch the handsome fisherman from the shadows, but she found herself drawn to him, night after night. If she had only stayed away, he would not be suffering a life of eternal darkness. But she couldn’t stay way, and now it’s too late; he’s been turned into an abomination, a creature that will never again be free.

Natalya is all that Caine has left. He just doesn’t know it yet.

Natalya knows better than anyone what it’s like to have her world ripped out from under her, forced into the darkness, never to walk in the sun again. It wasn’t long ago when she was turned into a blood-sucking vamp, a ruthless killer. So when she finds herself to blame for an innocent human being turned, she knows that it’s up to her to save his life. But when Caine awakens to discover what he has become, will he ever be able to find his place in a world, where he just doesn’t fit in? And can he learn to forgive Natalya long enough to fight alongside her?

When a merciless pack of werewolves scent the newly created vamp, they will stop at nothing to destroy him, and everything he loves. Caine must learn to embrace his darkness, if he wishes to survive.

About the Author:  Catherine Vale has been writing fiction for as long as she can remember, but it wasn’t until she wrote her very first paranormal romance story that she found herself hooked on the raw, edgy love affair of shifters, vampires and other dominant alpha males and the captivating women that love them.

Catherine Vale writes both contemporary and paranormal romance for readers who are willing to take a walk on the wild side of love.  Her stories always include powerful alpha males, smart and sassy heroines and a happily-ever-after (even if she often put her characters through hell to get there!)

The cover is pretty cool!  I like all of the elements!  It works!

This is a standalone vampire romance.  I found myself liking Natalya for her sticking her morals even though she may have started with some bumps in the road.  I really liked Caine.  I really thought Gabriel deserved to get what was coming to him, but he kind of redeemed himself toward the end.  This was definitely an interesting story with vampires and nequams.  I really enjoyed the story, and it was much more action packed toward the end.

Fans of Catherine’s will not want to miss her vampire story especially if you are a vamp lover.

Review @DBReynoldsWrite @Bellebooks - Lucifer by D.B. Reynolds (Vampires in America #11)

Lucifer
Vampires in America #11
by D.B. Reynolds

Goodreads blurb:  Montreal, Quebec . . . A charming city on the St. Lawrence River, historic, sophisticated, but beneath it all lies an extensive underground where treacherous vampires are plotting to seize the country.

Lucifer Scuderi is a vampire—handsome and charismatic, a powerful hunter of unusual skill—who arrives in Montreal to take on the most important hunt of his life. Someone has kidnapped the mate of Canada’s ruling vampire lord, and it’s up to Lucifer to find him before his death sets off a crisis that could engulf the entire continent.

Eleanor Morel lost everything—including the love of her life—when she became a vampire. But now, twenty years later, she’s a trusted bodyguard to the Canadian lord, Sophia, and the only person Sophia can count on to lead the search for her endangered mate. But what Eleanor doesn’t know is that the special hunter she’ll be working with is none other than her long-lost love. And he’s demanding answers.

Lucifer’s love for Eleanor burns as hot as his anger towards her for leaving him. But they’ll have to find a way to set history aside and work together if they’re going to unravel the twisted betrayal that threatens not only Sophia and her mate, but the whole continent. Because the European vampires are on the move. And if Canada falls, the rest of North America could follow . . .

About the Author:  D.B. Reynolds is the award-winning author of the popular Vampires in America series, as well as other paranormal fiction. She lives with her husband of many years in a flammable canyon near Los Angeles, and when she's not writing her own books, she can usually be found reading someone else's.

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!

The cover definitely fits with the rest of them like works of art that should be appreciated.

This is the 11th book in the series (not counting novellas).  This series is for adults who are not of the faint of heart.  There is violence and love in spades.

I really love D.B. Reynolds writing style.  Her books are packed with action, intrigue, and baggage to go with the vampires’ long lives.  I’m always intrigued and never want to put the book down whichever one it is.  Her humor written through makes me laugh.  She always takes you on an emotionally journey.

Lucifer and Eleanor’s story is just as fantastic as I find each story to be.  This story mostly takes place in Canada in Sophia’s territory.  I don’t want to give anything away, so read the blurb and if you are intrigued, you definitely want to read this book.

I highly recommend the entire series to vampire fanatics who understand the powerful relationships with vampires.  In this series, there is NEVER a dull moment!

Review @LRWLee - Wisdom of the Centaurs' Reason by L.R.W. Lee (Andy Smithson #6)

Wisdom of the Centaurs' Reason
Andy Smithson #6
by L.R.W. Lee

Goodreads blurb:  A powerful enemy. An irresistible bribe. One choice could change the world forever. Standing on a precipice is very different than jumping off. Andy Smithson would know. For five years he’s collected ingredients for a curse-breaking potion, all the while knowing his actions will turn his world upside down the instant he succeeds. He wonders if he’s reached the point of no return when events at home reveal he may be part of something much bigger.

Andy returns to Oomaldee to find overrunning Castle Avalon and turning out the king’s court didn’t begin to satisfy Abaddon’s thirst for long-held vengeance on the land. No. The people must suffer…as he has, and he begins to reveal the true depths of his malevolent plan.

The stakes go up when it comes time for Andy to hunt down the sixth ingredient, for Abaddon has put a bounty on the heads of Oomaldee’s monarchy. Will Andy succeed or will citizens betray him? One wrong choice will change the future of the kingdom.

Wisdom of the Centaurs’ Reason is the sixth novel in the Andy Smithson coming-of-age, fantasy series. If you like unexpected twists, exhilarating action, vengeful villains, and tales of intrigue, with tender moments that leave you begging for more, then you’ll love L. R. W. Lee’s latest entry in this epic adventure.

Buy Wisdom of the Centaurs’ Reason and continue Andy’s journey today!

About the Author:  Since the age of eight, L. R. W. Lee wanted to write a children’s book, but felt she did not have anything significant to share; she sought to change lives while entertaining. A degree in Accounting did not provide riveting fodder for a best seller, so she waited. Over a decade, she founded and grew a company, during which, she worked closely with a mentor from whom she learned uncommon thinking that changed her life. After selling her business in early 2012, she had time to write and, more importantly, something significant to share.

L. R. W. Lee lives in scenic Austin, TX with her husband, daughter and son.

The cover is wonderful!  They always draw you to the book.

This is the 6th book in the series, and it is targeted toward middle grade students.  However, I think any fantasy lover would love this series at any age.  This book does involve dealing with death and loss.

I am definitely not an eloquent person.  This is why I read, and don’t write.  This series always amazes me with the complex layers of story and meaning that is interwoven through the series.  I have fallen into love with the journey into saving Oomaldee, and Andy learning many life lessons along the way.  Andy grows with each book.  This book was another tear jerker.  My heart ached for Andy continuously, and I wanted to vanquish Abaddon and his minions for Andy.  You know in live how you tend to wish for miracles; well I found myself wishing that for Andy and his kingdom.

This book and the whole series is an outstanding and moving.  I think everyone should read a series that evokes so much emotion and especially the moral issues that are presented and make this book so much bigger than just an adventure.  I can’t wait for the next book, but at the same time, I’m going to go into mourning as it will be the last book.  Have you ever had those feelings when a series ended?

I highly recommend this book and series to those fantasy lovers who want to read a well-crafted story filled to the brim with emotions and life lessons!

Review @_JKHarper - Fire Wolf by J.K. Harper (Black Mesa Wolves #6) (Dallas Fire & Rescue: Kindle Worlds)

Fire Wolf
Black Mesa Wolves #6
Dallas Fire & Rescue Kindle Worlds
by J.K. Harper

Blurb:  After suffering an unspeakable childhood tragedy, firefighter Tanner Canagan uses his wolf shifter powers to rescue other helpless victims. But no matter how many people he saves, the dark history of his past prevents him from getting close to anyone. He doesn’t deserve to fall in love, especially not with a woman as gorgeous and amazing as Jordyn.

As a paramedic, Jordyn Lowe saves lives on a daily basis. As a wolf shifter, she’s dedicated to her pack. And as a woman, she’s head over paws in love with Tanner. Despite her own painful past with men, his tortured soul doesn’t scare her away. They just might be able to forge a union destined to last forever—if only she can convince him that their broken hearts can heal one another.

A Black Mesa Wolves crossover novella!

About the Author:  J.K. Harper writes about paranormal romance and urban fantasy because despite a lifetime of wishing, all the cool supernatural book characters of her childhood just don't seem to be real. Besides, it's just really fun to make stuff up and play around in her imagination.

Julie is owned by three cats, two horses, and a dog. More horses are always a good thing, so she's working on adding to the herd. She lives in the rugged, gorgeous canyon country of the Southwest, which is a great place to let her imagination run wild.

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!

This is the 6th book in the Black Mesa Wolves series which I am familiar with and have read several of, but I have not read any of the Dallas Fire & Rescue series which this is a Kindle Worlds novella of.  It is for adults only due to the steamy content.  It is only about 75 pages, so it is a quick read.

Tanner has a tragic back story that made me cry as it unfolded.  Jordyn has baggage too, but they only make vague references to hers.  I really liked both of them.  There were definitely times when you were thinking that they both needed to be slapped to help get their heads on straight.  The story kept me engaged and made me not want to put the story down.  Most of the pack that you know is not in this story.  A great addition to the series!  Can’t wait for more!

I recommend this book to all of the Black Mesa Wolves lovers because if you love your wolf shifters and J.K. Harper, you don’t want to miss this story!

Review @valeromance - Run Fur Love by Catherine Vale

Run Fur Love
BBW Tiger Shifter Romance
by Catherine Vale

Goodreads blurb:  Harley Myers can smell a shifter a mile away. And she could smell trouble, just as easily. And now, both were wrapped up in the drifter that sat at the end of her bar. He wasn’t one of her tigers, and she didn’t know what he wanted, but he was sending out enough signals that he was interested in getting her attention.

Was he worth getting involved with? Hell, yeah. No guy like him had come her way in a long time. She’d just have to be careful. Being the leader of a motorcycle club had taught her that.

Jericho Steele was an assassin, with time to kill. He’d found himself in this hole-in-the-wall pub, and thought there was no better way to kill time, than with the sexy girl behind the bar. She had more curves than a switchback highway, and he thought she would be just the thing to keep him occupied, until he found his target. He just needed to keep his shifter status a secret. The clubs here were close knit, and even though he was a tiger, his stripes would stick out like that proverbial sore thumb.

But when the leader of a rival club thinks Jericho double-crossed him, and one of Harley’s brother is accused of a drug deal gone bad, both of them end up with targets on their backs. The only thing they can do now is stick together. And run like hell, until the smoke clears.

The cover is pretty awesome!  My favorite shifter covers always have both beautiful beasts on it, and this one also has the bike and tat too!

This is a standalone book that as far as I can tell is not a series.  This is an adult book due to the steamy content and violence.

Harley definitely intrigues me because she is human but has the fierceness of a shifter.  Jericho falls hard for Harley, and they have quite a journey together.  I liked all the action, and I was pulled into the story.  I don’t want to give anything away because the journey is part of the adventure, so read the blurb and if you love shifters especially of the tiger variety you will want to read this one!!

I recommend this book to all the tiger shifter lovers especially if you love Catherine’s work!
