Review @BKMcMichael - The Day Human King by B. Kristin McMichael (Day Human Trilogy #2)

The Day Human King
The Day Human Trilogy #2
by B. Kristin McMichael

Goodreads blurb:  Book Two of The Day Human Trilogy
Book Five in The Night Human World
An expansion of The Blue Eyes Trilogy

After he inherited the power of the late sidhe king, Devin thought the battle to protect Nessa and proceed with her coronation was over. Everyone feared him, and he had the power to do anything in the sidhe world. He was wrong. As problem after problem arises, Nessa and Devin discover that the path to the throne isn’t as simple as they thought. Formalities must be adhered to, preparations must be made, and between all of that, Devin and Nessa must decide what to do with an obviously pregnant Fiona, who won’t name the father of her child. To make matters worse, the elite sidhe are still assassinating each other. No one in the palace is safe. Who is behind the latest deaths, and can the coronation actually occur with all of the drama going on? Devin and Nessa’s road to power might be cut short if they can’t find the answers.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 unicorns - I loved it!

The cover is another work of art, and I get Devin and the swords on the cover.  But I have not figured out what’s with the two girls and what it is supposed to represent.

This is the 2nd book in the spin-off trilogy The Day Human Trilogy.  I bought this book this week because I had to read it :) Even though you do not have to read them in order, I would recommend it because you would miss out on character dynamics if you have not, and I especially recommend starting with the first trilogy The Blue Eyes because some of the characters from that trilogy join us in this book :)

Okay I loved this book except Chapter 1.  Chapter 1 just didn’t seem like it was part of the book, but I can’t quite figure out why and that’s all I’m going to say about it :)

Devin and his protective side show a mile wide in this book, but this is not surprising to me because he has always been this way.  Nessa really is clueless when it comes to her people and knowledge of them.  I think Devin learns more about how they think and work faster than Nessa, but maybe that’s what it takes an outsider’s view point.  They get to know each other better and what each other’s motivations are.  Turner comes back to entertain us with his word play with Devin.  I really love the two of them together because you can see they are best friends.  Mori also helps out Devin with his skills.

BK’s writing came alive in my imagination while I read which helped me to love this story.  Of course, I wasn’t happy at the end and wanted to slap Nessa, but I have to wait for the next book to see what happens next.  BK write fast ;)

I highly recommend both series to YA paranormal fans who like action, drama, and treachery with a great story.  I love this unique Night Human world that BK has created and hope it will continue even further after this trilogy :)  My classroom bookshelf is calling for this book too ;)
