Review - Alpha Wolf (Black Mesa Wolves #2) by J.K. Harper @_JKHarper

Alpha Wolf
Black Mesa Wolves #2
by J.K. Harper

Goodreads blurb:  As a Guardian climbing the ranks in the Black Mesa Wolf Pack, Sara Kenyon's life is ideal. A sexy firecracker, she's never regretted her carefree love-'em-and-leave-'em attitude. But when her one-time fling, smokin' hot Rafe Bardou, wants the only thing she can’t give him—commitment—she starts to question if freedom is everything she desires.

Rafe's patience is legendary. Yet for all his strength and control, Rafe craves something he can't have: free-spirited Sara as his mate. Her red-hot kisses have eluded him for over a year, but he can't stop thinking about how they once tangled the sheets together. Now he's out of time. Her commitment to him is essential—not only for his own happiness, but for the future of the Pack.

Losing control isn't an option. But it may be the only way to convince this sweet vixen he's her alpha wolf.

Warning: hot springs and a dark alley are both defiled in this story. Read at your own risk.

About the Author:  J.K. Harper writes about paranormal romance and urban fantasy because despite a lifetime of wishing, all the cool supernatural book characters of her childhood just don't seem to be real. Besides, it's just really fun to make stuff up and play around in her imagination.

Julie is owned by three cats, two horses, and a dog. More horses are always a good thing, so she's working on adding to the herd. She lives in the rugged, gorgeous canyon country of the Southwest, which is a great place to let her imagination run wild.

My Thoughts - 3 out of 5 Unicorns - I liked it!!
*** I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)

The cover is awesome, and I loved it!!  Definitely peaked my interest in reading the book.

Okay after reading book 1, I think I got my expectations way up for this series.  I liked this book, but I thought this was going to be a book I loved.  I expected a lot of action from the rogues and stuff to happen, and it just didn’t.

There are the two steamy scenes you are warned about, and they are good :)  But the rest of the story is basically about dating trouble between Rafe and Sara.  They are awesome characters, and I was totally laughing at some great interactions.  I just felt like action was building and nothing, then it was building again and nothing, and finally a half a chapter of awesomeness.  Then it wrapped up.

I think it book 3 can have those conflicts from that awesome half of a chapter throughout the book that J.K. will hit it out of the park.  I will definitely continue reading the series because I have seen authors totally prove me wrong and make it epic.  J.K.’s writing style is awesome :)  Maybe I’m just an idiot who expects too much action in a shifter book…lol but this is just what I want.

If you are into more of the dating/romance side of shifters, then this is for you :)
