Review @tinadonahue - Freeing the Beast by Tina Donahue (Taming the Beast #1)

Freeing the Beast
Taming the Beast #1
by Tina Donahue

Goodreads blurb:  No more Mr. Nice Guy.

Magic is Becca Salt’s business, but it ain’t happening in her bedroom. The half-witch proprietress of From Crud to Stud performs miracle makeovers for paranormal creatures. Once she’s done with them, they’re out the door hunting for hot babes, not hanging around for a too-curvy, plain Jane like her.

Her newest client is hot, hung, mouthwatering perfection. What could she possibly improve upon?

Eric Diletto. Descendant of Cupid, bred for courtship, courtesy, and all that other gentlemanly junk. What has it gotten him? Dumped time and again for bad boys. He needs Becca’s help for an entirely different reason—regression therapy to release his inner beast. Grrrr.

Two potions later, they’re crawling all over each other. Becca aches for a man who loves her as she is, not because he’s under the influence. But Eric isn’t as impaired as she thinks. And he intends to take Becca here, there, and everywhere—anything to convince her his desire isn’t just the potions talking.

Warning: A witchdoctor’s nightmare. Contains potions with weird side effects, a sorceress with limited magical skills and a yearning heart, plus a minor god who wants to get down and dirty. Bad, bad boy!

About the Author:  Tina Donahue is an award-winning, bestselling novelist in erotic romance, and an admitted chocoholic known to down semi-sweet candy bars in grocery checkout lines. She lives with her family in Palm Springs, California, where tires melt in the 120-degree summer heat and an occasional earthquake puts everyone on notice to bolt things down. When she’s not writing her steamy stories, trying to stay cool, or crawling beneath her desk during a trembler, she loves shopping, eating at her favorite Mexican restaurant and meeting other authors. Before she wrote romance, Tina was the editor of an award-winning Midwestern newspaper and worked in Story Direction for a Hollywood production company.

My Thoughts - 3 out of 5 Unicorns - I liked it!!!

***Received a copy of the ebook for an honest review

The cover is pretty, but they made it like she wasn’t a real red head with the hair color and her eyebrows.  While it mildly hints at paranormal, nothing grabs my attention.

This is about 150 pages which I think is considered a novella, but I’m not sure where the cutoff is.  This is an adult only book at there are some very steamy scenes.

I liked this book, but it did not have the action I was hoping would be mixed in.  It is the drama of dating when you have baggage from your past.  I liked Becca and Eric, but I think I found it easier to connect with her friends.  I do sometimes have trouble connecting in the first book in a series, and I think I will definitely read book 2 to see where the series goes and what happens next :)

Tina does a fabulous job in her writing and is an easy read.  This is my first time reading her work, so I will definitely be checking out more in the future of her paranormal work :)

I recommend this book to romance readers who love the drama involved with dating and the baggage they bring with them :)
