Review @TamaraHoffa - Hers to Bear by Tamara Hoffa (Animal in Me #1)

Hers to Bear
Animal in Me #1
by Tamara Hoffa

Goodreads blurb:  Twenty-five and never been kissed, Jenna Raynes is a beautiful woman with a rubenesque figure often overlooked by men. In the mood for a little honey, the sassy new schoolteacher is stopped in her tracks by one growled word from an alpha bear…“Mine.”

Bern Helms’ inner bear catches the scent of his destined mate. His animal’s desire is drawn to her curves, but Jenna is human, and not lured to him by instinct. Convincing her begins as a sizzling, sweet affair that is soon spoiled by danger. In their small backwater town, nerves are strung taut. Someone is abducting shifter children.

When confronted, Jenna is as protective of her students as a mamma bear. For Bern, all bets are off when the kidnapper’s take Jenna too. Nothing will keep a bear from his mate. The hunters will become the hunted…

***Received a copy of the ebook for an honest review from the Lovers of Paranormal group

The cover is fierce and sweet all at the same time!  Definitely attracts a shifter reader to grab it!!

Okay this is the first book in the series, and it is about 170ish pages.  Of course this is a shifter romance, so I’m immediately partial to it as that is my favorite kind of read.  This is definitely adult onlys since there are several very steamy scenes.

Okay I don’t usually read the dedication, but sometimes it catches my eye and I do.  This one caught my eye, and I was bonding with the author before I finished reading it because she likes the same type of books I do and feels the same way about some of my favorite authors.  I also loved how she described her husband :)

Jenna is easy to love especially being a kindergarten teacher.  Props to any teacher who can keep the attention of that many little people ;)  Being a teacher myself, it is easy to connect and respect Jenna’s character even though she is an imaginary colleague ;)  Bern comes on like a bear…lol  love my pun, but you have to see why I say this by reading the story.  He is strong, loyal, sweet, and sexy which makes him awesome.  I definitely think I would have reacted similar to Jenna which of course helped in the connections.  Her best friend Alice is just hilarious, and I love her fierce protectiveness of her best friend.  I hope I get to see more of all of these characters in the future books of this series.

Tamara fills the story with her own quirky sense of humor which reminds me of Shelly Laurenston, but it is still uniquely Tamara.  I laugh when authors can make me laugh out loud and people around me ask what is so funny.  She filled the pages with emotion that made it easy to connect with her characters that I love and want more of.  I can already see that she has three possible stories or matings lined up which makes me very happy because I soooo want more of this world she created.  Her story also has bad guys who I already want to squash, and it is very realistic because it is probably true that some people would think just like those same bad guys.  At any rate, I was gripped in the story until the end and didn’t want to put it down.  Her style and humor make it easy to love the story, and I think it will only get better and better as the series goes.

I highly recommend this to shifter lovers who love humor mixed in with their reads especially if you love authors like Shelly Laurenston, Lora Leigh, and other similar authors.  I can’t wait for of this series!!!
