Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

About the Author:  I live in Tacoma, Washington, with my fiancé and our two cats. In addition to my slight obsession with books and writing, I'm big on road-tripping, wine-tasting, and hunting for antiques. I'm represented by Jill Grinberg.

CINDER, my debut novel, is a futuristic re-envisioning of Cinderella in which Cinder is a cyborg mechanic.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!

***I own this as a hard bound book

The cover is cool and definitely intrigued me to get it when I saw it.

Okay, I have owned this book and book 2 for quite a while, and it was sitting in my classroom.  We have close reading at my school on Fridays, but this Friday everyone was told to bring their own book to read.  So I went to my shelf and grabbed this book to read.  I started reading it, and I was hooked.  I had to bring the book home to finish because I didn’t want to put it down.

This is definitely YA appropriate, and it has been recommended by my students as a great series.  I loved every moment I read it and couldn’t put it down.  Who wouldn’t love a cyborg Cinderella story?  Cinder is an amazing and strong teen who has had a lot happen in her short life and doesn’t even know half of what has happened.  My only regret is that I didn’t bring book 2 home with me, so I will have to get it Monday.  I also picked up Stars Above and Fairest this weekend.  I still need to get Cress and Winter to add to my collection.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes YA fiction, technological societies, and Cinderella :)

  1. Cyborg Cinderella story? I've been hearing about this for a while. I'll have to see if my library has it.
