Review @AuthorZForward - The Way You Bite by Zoe Forward

The Way You Bite
by Zoe Forward

Goodreads blurb:  When King Werewolf shows up in veterinarian Vee Scarpa's ER, she's livid.

Her father, North American head honcho vampire, has threatened a chilling or else if she "accidentally" helped a wolf again, especially since they're at war. But she's tempted by the sexy wolf. And his deadly blood calls to her in a way that should set off warning bells...

A promise to his brother in arms obliges Lexan Dimitrov to rescue the aristocrat vampire before her family discovers her secret—a secret Vee herself isn't even aware of. What he didn't expect was to find her sexy-as-hell. He's not into vamps, yet the inescapable heat building between them is a delicious temptation guaranteed to end in total disaster.

About the Author:  Award winning author, Zoe Forward is a hopeless romantic who can’t decide between paranormal and contemporary romance. So, she writes both. Her novels have won numerous awards including the Readers Choice Heart of Excellence, Golden Quill, Carolyn Readers Choice Award, and the Booksellers Best Award.

When she’s not typing at her laptop, she’s tying on a karate belt for her son or cleaning up the newest pet mess from the menagerie that occupies her house. She’s a small animal veterinarian caring for a wide range of furry creatures, although there has been the occasional hermit crab.

She’s madly in love with her globe trotting conservation ecologist husband who plans to save all the big cats on the planet, and she's happiest when he returns to their home base.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

This is my first time reading Zoe Forward’s work though I do own a couple of her books that I will read in the future!!  I believe this is a standalone, but I’m hoping it turns into a series because I loved the world created by Zoe with Vampires, Werewolves, and Hybrids called Demisangs.  This is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content.

Vee has tried hard to maintain her independence, and things get real interesting.  I love her fierceness and attitude and that she fights for what she believes, but she also has a caring and protective nature.  She doesn’t believe in senseless killing especially of the innocent.  She is trying to put off both her fiancĂ© and her father, so she can keep her job and independence.  Lexan is interesting because he has honor and keeps his word, and he finds Vee very interesting which is something that he has been missing for a long time.  Vee’s world is rocked by Lexan in more than one way, but I refuse to ruin your adventure in reading.  This book was action packed with treachery, plotting, adventures, fighting, and romance.  My favorite kind of book, I couldn’t put it down.

I highly recommend this book to any paranormal fans who love an adventure with wolves and vampires who on the verge of war!

Review @The_RealJ_Sweet - Tutoring the Wolf by Jacqueline Sweet (Penrose Magical Academy #1)

Tutoring the Wolf
Penrose Magical Academy #1
by Jacqueline Sweet

Goodreads blurb:  Cassie Blake is the brightest witch of her generation and has every step of her future planned out. She's engaged to a handsome, successful man from a good wizarding family and if she can just keep her grades up all of her dreams will come true the second she graduates. But when she's forced to tutor the rebellious werewolf Malcolm Sheppard everything goes wrong. He's the worst student the Penrose Academy of Magical Excellence has ever seen--he'd rather spend his days pining for the rock star life he had to leave behind than studying for class. And then there's that way he looks at her that sends shivers all up and down her spine. Tutoring the Wolf is the first exciting new fantasy romance in the brand-new Penrose Academy world. Perfect for fans of Harry Potter, Tamora Pierce, Patrick Rothfuss who want a little more steam in their magical worlds.

About the Author:  Jacqueline Sweet writes about supernatural sex workers, dominatrix werewolves, and succubi with shoe fetishes. She loves the place where fantasy and romance and kink collide.

Jackie is currently working on a novel about a dominatrix torn between a werewolf pack and a succubus, titled "Making Magic," it's due out this summer.

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I got a copy of this book by signing up for her newsletter, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

This was published as Tutoring the Wolf in 2016, but I suspect it is going to be re-released as Schooling the Wolf, but I’m not positive because it isn’t listed as that anywhere at this time, but it is too good not to review.  This is the first book in the Penrose Magical Academy series, and I hope there is a lot more.

I was pulled into the story from the first page.  The world unfolded, and you learned about it, but in a way that had no slow parts just greatness.  Cassie and Mal’s story is awesome.  They are thrown together as a challenge to Cassie by her mother, the Dean.  Her life is full of expectations of what she is supposed to do, but she doesn’t really live.  Mal is a bitten werewolf with no control because he feels his life is over.  They grow as people together, and it was awesome to read.  I was smiling, crying, and laughing with them.  I can’t wait to read more of this series, so please keep them coming Jacqueline!

I highly recommend to any paranormal fans who loves mixes of magic, wolf, witches, wizards, warlocks, and all sorts of college hijinks that comes when you add a little magic!

Review @DanicaWinters - Always a Wanderer by Danica Winters (Irish Traveller #2)

Always a Wanderer
Irish Traveller #2
by Danica Winters
Blurb:  The darkly seductive sequel to Danica Winters's Once a Gypsy, perfect for fans of Nalini Singh and Karen Marie Moning.
-Always a Wanderer is a powerful, inspiring tale that proves not all who wander are lost.---Sabrina York, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author

Helena O'Driscoll and Graham Kelly's first few months together haven't been easy. Helena, missing the traditional Traveller lifestyle she gave up for Graham, can't help but feel that their cultural differences have doomed their relationship. And with preparations for their brand-new hospital for Supernaturals filling their days, they feel out of sync, and maybe even out of love.

When a man from the local equestrian center is murdered, Helena begins having visions of the future darker and more dangerous than ever before. With a killer in their midst, everyone at Adare Manor is at risk, and Helena and Graham must work together to catch the culprit even as their relationship unravels. And when the murderer claims another victim, this one even closer to Helena's heart, the question becomes not whether their love will survive, but whether they will.

About the Author:  Danica Winters is a bestselling author who is known for writing award-winning books that grip readers with their ability to drive emotion through suspense and often a touch of magic. When she’s not working, she can be found in the wilds of Montana testing her patience while she tries to understand the allure of various crafts (quilting, pottery, and painting are not her thing).  She always believes the cup is neither half full nor half empty, but it better be filled with wine.

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

This is the second book in the series.  It is for adults only due to the steamy scene and violence.

The series is getting more interesting and intriguing!  There is lots of conflict in Helena and Graham’s relationship and mostly of their own making.  They both think too much!  There is lots of treachery and trouble with supernatural powers as well as everyone being unsure about most things.  There are some things that made me sad, and some things I was like yes take that, but I refuse to give you more details because the journey is yours to enjoy and not be ruined by me!

I can’t wait to see what happens next because I hope it keeps getting more exciting and who knows what will happen next!

I recommend this book to those readers who enjoy the paranormal and who believe in Foreshaw or powers that can make life interesting!

Sh*t My Shifter Says
Witches Gone Wild #2
Kindle Worlds: Magic and Mayhem

Goodreads blurb:  A missing bear. A heartbroken witch. A ghost with self-esteem issues. A zombie bunny army invading the front yard.

Yep.

It's about to get wild in Texas.

Again.

The cover is the same fun style as book 1!

This is the 2nd book in the Witches Gone Wild series which is part of the Magic and Mayhem Kindle Worlds series.  This book is for adults only due to the language and graphic descriptions.

This book is about half the length as book 1 which made me sad because it was over entirely too quickly, but I loved the humor and chaos that is Wild, Texas.  Anything that can happen actually seems to happen!  Dorcas is definitely representing!  Tabor and Immie always have something going on.  I was pulled into the story and loved it!  Only sadness was when it was over!

I highly recommend this to any paranormal fans who want a great laugh!  I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!

Review - Savage Thirst by Liza Street (Corona Pride #4)

Savage Thirst
Corona Pride #4
by Liza Street

Goodreads blurb:  Revenge doesn’t have to taste like blood.

One of the younger vampires in the Corona Mountains, Gracie Jane Moseley has still had over a hundred years to thirst after revenge for her lover’s murder by the local sheriff, Cormac Rhees. When she learns one of his descendants is living right here in Belnedge, Montana, she can’t wait to sink her fangs into him and sate her rage…and her thirst.

Mountain lion shifter Frasier Rhees has been wishing for a mate for years because no woman yet has been able to handle his fierce appetites. But Gracie Jane captivates him, body and soul. Determined to overcome his pride’s loathing of the vampires, Frasier’s willing to do whatever it takes to keep Gracie Jane close, even if it puts him in danger.

Content Warning: Although it is part of a series and best read in order, this shapeshifter novella stands alone and contains liberal usage of naughty language and sexytimes. It is intended for adults.

About the Author:  Liza got her start in romance by sneak-reading her grandma’s paperbacks. Now she divides her time between freelance editing, ghostwriting, and mountain lion shifters with fierce and savage hearts.

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  No one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!  I own the books in this series.

The cover is my favorite kind with the both of the shifters forms!!!  Love it!

This is the 4th book in the series! It is for adults only due to the steamy content.  I highly recommend reading the books in order because as a whole the series is much better when you know the whole back story of all characters involved.

This is my favorite book in the series so far!  I even like Marlana now because of this book which up until now I didn’t care for her at all!  This is Fraze’s story, and he continues the trend of unusual mates.  Fraze didn’t have much direction.  If you’ve read book 1, you know his backstory with his parents.  He has also had his heart broken by a human, so he hasn’t been happy.  Gracie I really didn’t know what to think about her.  She has had moments of kindness, but she really doesn’t have control over what she does because vampires are ruled by their king or queen.  This book had plenty of action and drama, and as will the rest of this story it has a HEA that made me happy!

I highly recommend this book any shifter or vampire fan who loves an HEA style book!  I can’t wait to read the next book about V!

Review @michelebardsley - Sh*t My Witch Says by Michele Bardsley (Witches Gone Wild #1)

Sh*t My Witch Says
Witches Gone Wild #1
Kindle Worlds: Magic and Mayhem
by Michele Bardsley

Goodreads blurb:  A cursed witch, a gorgeous bear Shifter, and a sarcastic Puritan ghost must work together to save the supernatural town of Wild, Texas.

Witch Imogene Hobbs, with the exception of her frill-necked lizard familiar, Liz, has spent most of her life alone, but not because she’s anti-social. Nope. She’s cursed. The ghost of her Puritan ancestor’s bitter enemy, Dorcas Hoar, haunts Immie every second of every day. Working with botanical magic sustains the creator witch, even with an ornery spirit on her ass all the time, and Immie manages to eke out a living cultivating rare, hard-to-grow plants for magic potions.

Bear Shifter Tabor Cotton shows up in Assjacket, West Virginia with a proposal for Immie—save his town’s most precious tree, the Great Ash, an ancient source of pure magic. In exchange, he will help her lift her curse. Baba Yaga, the head honcho of all witches, insists on Immie’s cooperation—not that Immie is protesting. To complicate matters, Tabor believes that Immie is his mate. All because of the so-called “mating scent.” Yep. Immie thinks Tabor smells like fresh cut grass on a spring morning, while Tabor thinks she smells like dark honey licked straight off the comb.

As Tabor and Immie learn to navigate their blossoming romance, prune a cursing crone, and weed out a plot to kill to the Great Ash, you can bet your sassafras that Wild, Texas is about to get a whole lot wilder.

The cover looks fun and is part of what attracted me, but the title cinched me reading it!!!

This is the first book in this author’s series that is part of the Magic and Mayhem Kindle Worlds.  This is also the first book I’m reading my Michele even though I owe a ton of her books though I want to get more of the Broken Heart series.  This book is for adults only due to the content and language.

This book is awesome!  I love Dorcas so much, but the twins are even better!  The humor runs amok in this book and made me laugh and smile a lot!  Immie is pretty amazing because she hasn’t had real great things happen to her, but she still manages to keep her heart and knows how to give others joy and doesn’t want anyone to hurt.  Tabor is a sexy bear shifter who need her help…oh and she is his mate.  I love all the sarcasm and witty naming conventions that the author uses because it made it even more humorous.  I loved it and can’t wait to read the next one!!

I highly recommend this book to paranormal fans who love humor, witches, shifters, vampires, and more!!!

Review @Violet__Vaughn - Called by the Vampire: Part 1 by V. Vaughn

Called by the Vampire
Part #1
by V. Vaughn

Goodreads blurb:  When Maggie Evans had a heart transplant, she received more than a new organ from her donor. She also got a piece of the woman’s soul and now, Maggie can feel emotions she can’t explain. Emotions that help her decide to take a job for Sebastian Hart in a dark mansion on the coast of Maine. When she gets there, she discovers her heart had a good reason to make her go.

Sebastian isn’t the only Hart brother who makes Maggie’s pulse quicken. His younger brother, Alexander, captures the rest of her. While having her affections torn between two brothers who are her bosses is complicated enough, Maggie also learns the men are far more than they seem. The cover is steamy!

This is the first part in a new serial series!  This is my first time reading Violet’s work though I’m not sure why because I them!  This is for adults only due to the steamy and adult content!  As is the nature for a serial, this is only part of the book, so if this bothers you, you may want to collect the parts and read them when it is complete.

I loved this part!  I was pulled into the story from the first page with Maggie’s story!  The brothers are very different and interesting.  There are a lot of plot twists going on right now that will be interesting to see where it goes!  I don’t want to give anything away!  It is a compelling story that will have you laughing and crying with Maggie!  I really didn’t want it to end because now I have to wait for more!!!

I highly recommend to any vampire fans who love a compelling story and who don’t mind that this is a serial!  I can’t wait for part 2!

Review - Savage Heartache by Liza Street (Corona Pride #3)

Savage Heartache
Corona Pride #3
by Liza Street

Goodreads blurb:  Seeking sanctuary amidst a ragtag clan of shifters has never been so dangerous…or so fun.

Famous in the book-blogging world for her honestly hilarious romance reviews, mountain lion shapeshifter Nina Vidal detests the irony of her life—she makes a living off of analyzing happily-ever-afters, but her own HEA is sadly out of reach. To escape the heartache of staying in her pride and watching all her friends pair up, she seeks refuge in another clan of shifters, not caring that the grumpy alphahole, Jameson, doesn’t want her there.

Grizzly shifter Jameson Cooper has enough on his mind without worrying about the sexy lion girl who’s taking over his clan. He’s alpha of the Rock Creek Clan, and he’s still mourning the loss of his mate. But there’s something about Nina—she’s the one person who won’t tolerate his bossiness or his angst, and he finds himself drawn to her again and again. When it turns out that vampire trouble has followed her from the Corona Pride and Jameson’s clan wants to turn Nina away, Jameson must fight to keep her safe and close by his side.

The cover is amazing as all covers showing both beasts are!  They are my favorite kind of cover!

This is the 3rd book in the series!  I highly recommend reading all the books in order because together you have a richer world and greater understanding of the characters especially Nina.  This series is for adults only due to the steamy content.

Nina is my favorite only I didn’t know it until this book!  I can relate because she is a romance reader and reviewer and blogger.  It is very cool!  Nina left due to heartache.  She finds a mixed clan where she wants time to figure out what she is going to do next.  Jameson lost his mate and pushes everyone away.  Together they are a matched set of heartache.  Plenty of drama between them and the clan, fighting, and romance.  I couldn’t put down this story!

I recommend this book and series to all shifter fans especially if you like mountain lions and HEAs!  Can’t wait to see what happens in the next one!

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  I won a copy of this book in a giveaway, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

This is the first book in this series, and my first time reading anything by M.J. or Becca.  I do own several of Melissa’s books, and I just bought one of Becca’s because I loved this book so much!  This book was an unexpected delight to read!  I should warn you though that it ends in a cliffhanger way which is killing me because I want more and to know what happens next.  I’d say this classifies as a New Adult as the main character Mya is in college.  There is lots of violence not making it appropriate from younger readers.

When I started reading this book, I never read the blurb.  Sometimes, I like to be surprised, and I definitely was because I didn’t know this was a post-apocalyptic zombie type of book.  The book starts with Mya and her roommate studying in their dorm room, but they are watching the news.  I was pulled into the story and didn’t even realize it.  Mya and Drav are quite the pair, and Drav is very protective of Mya.  He is learning English as Mya talks to him.  I don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll just tell you that this book is amazing and has tons of action.

I highly recommend this book to any reader who like post-apocalyptic books of survival mixed with fantasy and zombies, and if cliffhangers both you, you may want to wait until the series finishes and read them at that time.  I hate waiting, but I will because this book was fantastic!  For now, I’m not so patiently waiting for the next book!

Review @DBReynoldsWrite @Bellebooks - Kato by D.B. Reynolds (Stone Warriors #2)

Kato
Stone Warriors #2
by D.B. Reynolds

Goodreads blurb:  It was a time when gods walked the earth, when armies fought not for bits of land, but for the very existence of humanity. On such a battlefield, five formidable warriors stood against an evil greater than any the earth had ever seen. But evil is not an honorable foe. Betrayed by someone they trusted, the warriors were cursed, one by one, tossed into the maelstrom of time, imprisoned in stone, their freedom resting on nearly impossible conditions. Until...

Kato Amadi...born of darkest sorcery, unstoppable on the battlefield, his magic is as deadly as his blade. But not even magic could save him from vicious betrayal. Trapped for millennia in darkness and silence, he is freed at last, only to find himself in the middle of a battle against the very beasts of hell he was created to destroy.

Grace Van Allen is a scholar of ancient languages who toils in the dim recesses of a museum basement with only a beautiful stone warrior to keep her company. But when Grace calls upon her silent warrior to help her translate an obscure new language, she breaks the ancient curse holding him prisoner...and frees three deadly demons to rampage through her city.

Tracking demons is what Kato was born to do, but he’ll need Grace’s help. And when they discover that Kato’s enemy is still alive and still plotting against him, their hunt takes a dangerous turn, one that might just prove fatal for both of them...

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

This is the 2nd book in a spin-off from Vampires in America.  This is for adults only due to the steamy content.  I highly recommend reading this series in order, but I also highly recommend reading Vampires in America because you will understand this world better and Nick.  Of course, the characters and world will be much richer too!

As always in D.B. Reynolds work, this is action packed, vivid, and just awesome!  She is one of my favorite authors.  I love all the attitudes and snark to puts into all of her characters as well as their fierce loyalty and love.

Kato has an amazing story just on his own, but you add Grace, and it is just magical.  In the beginning, they keep reading more into what each other say, but they come together quickly and are an unstoppable team.  I love how they both jump in to stand for each other, if they think someone is insulting the other.  They are all family (Nick, Kato, Grace, Damian, and Casey) which endears them to me more with each book.  This book has warriors, mages, demons, magic, curses, love, and more!

I highly recommend this book and series to all paranormal fans who want a fantastic story that has everything you want!  I can’t wait to see what D.B. comes up with next!
