Serial Review - Bound to the Alpha: Part Two by Viola Rivard @ViolaRivard (Bound #2)

Bound to the Alpha:  Part Two
Bound #2
by Viola Rivard

Goodreads blurb:  After a mountain adventure, followed by several nights of mind-blowing passion, Sarah isn’t keen on ending things with Cain, which is what she’ll have to do when they arrive back at his den—or so she thinks.

While Sarah is fretting over falling for a werewolf, Cain is struggling with how to explain to his new mate that she’s stuck with him and his pack—at least until she has his pup.

Bound to the Alpha: Part Two is a 20,000 novella. It is the second entry in the Bound serial, and is not intended to be read as a standalone story. This novella is for ages 18+ and should not be read by readers uncomfortable with sexual scenarios.

About the Author:  I spent the better part of my childhood in a small town in the Appalachian mountains. Although I moved to the big city, there will always be a part of me that wants to run barefoot through the forest and hop from stone to stone across a wide, clear river.

I have always been a dreamer, and may have meandered through life in a daze, had I not been diagnosed with leukemia at age twenty. I survived cancer, but the part of me that was willing to settle for idle fantasies did not. Galvanized, I decided to follow my dream of becoming an author. The results have been greater than anything I could have ever dreamed.

Whether you’re following your dreams, or you’re just trying your hardest to get through the day, I hope that just for a little while, I was able to take you to another world.

The cover is totally sexy and I love it :)  Gets my attention :)

I bought this today and devoured it :)  I really like this series, but it ends much too quickly.  Viola ends her serials in good places, but this one is frustrating.  I want to know what happens….like NOW lol!  Thankfully Part Three will be out in less than 2 weeks….the torture of having to wait (pouts a little…ok a lot)!

I really really love Sarah now.  She is just awesome :)  She is strong and loving towards the pack :)  Cain was not in this one quite as much as the last one.  He shares the spotlight with all the new characters from the pack.  I think some of Sarah’s nagging questions are mine too…lol  There is not as much action in this novella as the last, but it still definitely held my attention and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Viola creates a cool world that I want to learn more about, and I get sucked right into her stories.  Her writing style is easy to read and become involved with the story.  I can’t wait to read the Claimed by the Alpha series next while I wait for Part Three.

I highly recommend the series to my shifter loving friends who like serial novella series, but some may want to wait until Part Three is out (July 9thish) which I think is the last part, but I could be wrong.

Serial Review - Claimed by the Alphas: Part Two by Viola Rivard @ViolaRivard (Claimed #2)

Claimed by the Alphas:  Part Two
Claimed #2
by Viola Rivard

Goodreads blurb:  After a heated confrontation between the two alphas, Mila realizes that teaching them to share her is a pretty lofty goal. As she begins to have major doubts about her place in their world, it’s up to Asch to show her why she is just the woman his pack needs.

Caim never wanted to like Mila, but now that he’s had her, he wants her all to himself. But after a hard lesson, he has to face the fact that he may not be able to give the human everything she needs on his own.

Can the pair of dominant alphas really share Mila? And if so, is she ready to take them both on?

Claimed by the Alphas: Part Two is 12,500 words of werewolf/BBW romance. It is the second entry in the Claimed series, and contains strong sexual themes and ménage romance. It is a sequel and is not intended as a standalone episode.

The cover is awesome and I loved it!!  Everything works well together and grabs my shifter lovin’ attention :)

This part was much shorter, but it was awesome.  It had the perfect amount of conflict, fighting, and then making up :)  Of course you must love steamy scenes to enjoy these serials which I do :)  I would probably be upset that it was over so soon except I have the entire serial, so I get to continue after I finish this review and take care of the kiddos :)

Again Viola makes it easy to feel like you are there in the story rather than being disconnected.  She is definitely now on my favorite list, and I will keep watch on all the shifter deliciousness that she shares with the world :)

Remember I share how much I enjoyed a story with my reviews, and I tend to read what I know I will like otherwise what is the point.  Everyone enjoys different things, so while I highly recommend this serial to my friends who love steamy wolfy ménage stories, I do so because I think everyone will find some enjoyment in this series who is a shifter fanatic such as myself :)

Serial Review - Claimed by the Alphas: Part One by Viola Rivard @ViolaRivard (Claimed #1)

Claimed by the Alphas:  Part One
Claimed #1
by Viola Rivard

Goodreads blurb:  For Mila Foster, the idea of becoming an alpha wolf’s mate is so tantalizing that she is willing to leave her human life behind to join the Lazarus pack. Their alpha, the handsome and sensual Asch, is more than she could have ever hoped for, and Mila is beyond ready to surrender herself to him. That is, until she finds out that the Lazarus pack has a second alpha, the dominant and primitive Caim.

Caim’s wolf lurks very close to the surface. He likes the lean and taut females of his own kind, women who can handle the aggressive mating he enjoys. He has no interest in Mila, that is, until he gets his hands on her lush curves.

Claimed by the Alphas: Part One is 17,000 words of werewolf/BBW romance. It is the first entry in the Claimed series, chronicling Mila Foster's efforts to hold her new pack together by accepting the claim of both of its alphas. The series will contain strong sexual themes and ménage romance, and is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

The cover looks really awesome :)  I totally love it all especially the wolfs :)

I picked this up as a freebie back in February, and I picked up the boxed set yesterday as well as what is out of the Bound series (which I loved!!).  I really liked the set up of Mila’s story in Part One.  I really like Mila because she is strong and wants something more of her life, but also doesn’t want to be the cause of any problems.  I love how she tries to start finding a solution immediately.

I definitely think this series is going to continue to get better and better :)  Voila is awesome in her descriptions and setting up the story :)  She is becoming a favorite :)

I recommend this series to my shifter loving friends and even if you do not like serials because the entire series is out and can be purchased in a bundle to save money, but try Part One for free :)

Serial Review - Bound to the Alpha: Part One by Viola Rivard @ViolaRivard (Bound #1)

Bound to the Alpha:  Part One
Bound #1
by Viola Rivard

Goodreads blurb:  Sarah Harper has spent her life making all the right choices—yet somehow still ending up in all the wrong places. Most recently, her horrendous luck has left her stranded in the middle of the Appalachian wilderness without her glasses.

Cain is an alpha wolf who is already overburdened by obligations. Recognizing her dire predicament, he reluctantly takes on yet another responsibility—escorting the small, nearsighted human female back to her own kind.

Undeniably attracted to the gorgeous alpha, Sarah soon finds herself wanting to make very bad choices. Unlike Sarah, Cain understands the consequences that could arise from lying with a human, but with each day bringing them closer together, Cain isn’t sure he’ll be able to stop himself from being dangerously irresponsible.

Bound to the Alpha: Part One is a 20,000 novella. It is the first entry in the Bound serial, chronicling Sarah Harper’s journey as she inadvertently becomes part of a werewolf pack. This story is for ages 18+ and is not intended for readers uncomfortable with sexual scenarios.

The cover is cool with the wolf and definitely attracts my attention because I love my shifter books :)

Okay this is a serial series that are novella length, and only my 2nd attempt at trying a serial.  This serial was a great story and seemed to end at a good place, and I saw it coming.  It didn’t just abruptly stop where I wasn’t expecting it.  I read it straight through except the 20 minute car ride to take my nephew to swim practice (I finished it at swim practice).

I like the world Viola has created, and this is my first time reading her work.  I will definitely be reading more too :) like in 20 minutes when I finish this review.  It is easy to visual everything that is going on, and I love both of her characters in this book.  Sarah and Cain are both trying to avoid attachment, but Sarah is dependent on Cain because she is pretty much blind and far from civilization.  She is strong and brave which I love :)  Cain is arrogant and gruff, but has a sweet side.  I really like him too :)

I highly recommend to the shifter lovers out there, but if you aren’t a fan of serials wait until July 9th when the whole thing will be out and concluded :)  I’m off to read part 2 now :)

The cover is totally yummy and makes me want a Chris ;)  lol  Definitely gets my attention though having a cat on it would have made it even better :)

This is a short story or novella that is about 70 or so pages.  When I wasn’t familiar with Jane as an author, she offered me a story to check out her writing, and this was the one I picked :)  Though, I have bought a bunch of her novellas since then and before reading this one.  I love Jane as an author.  My only wish is she would write a novel length book because the stories are always over way too quickly.

This is a simple HEA (means Happily Ever After for those who don’t already know, I once had to ask what it meant) story with mountain lion shifters and their fated mates.  Some ideas are similar to other shifter mate ideas, but there are also several unique twists.  I thoroughly enjoyed this and read it straight through without stopping.  There was not much action in this story, so if you have to have lots of action this might not be a story for you.  Usually, I want a ton of action, but I was surprised how much I loved this story.  It was humorous and engaging.  I like both Chris and Maggie as characters, and definitely want to see more of this world in the future :)

If you want a quick HEA read that is sweet and fun, this is a great story to pick up and I highly recommend it.

Interesting in reading???

You will have to wait until it is rereleased in November or December!!  Coming soon :)
And more to come after that too!!!  I can't wait!!!

Review - Savage Hunger by Terry Spear @TerrySpear (Heart of the Jaguar #1)

Savage Hunger
Heart of the Jaguar #1
by Terry Spear

Goodreads blurb:  As a jaguar he is graceful and gorgeous. Speedy and stealthy. Fierce, independent and wild. As a man he is passionate and powerful, wilful and wonderful.

And he'll stop at nothing to protect what's his...

In the heat of the jungle, jaguars are clawed, dangerous, and hungry for love. With hopes of overcoming night terrors and thanking the man who saved her life, Kathleen McKnight returns to the Amazon.

A jaguar at heart, Connor Anderson doesn't just protect her, but wants to claim her for his own.

About the Author:  Love, love, love romance, the paranormal, hunky Highlanders with their delicious brogue and hot kilts, so Terry Spear writes about those hunky Highlanders both in medieval times and as wolves in contemporary times. Jaguar shifters too! And young adult urban fantasy. And romantic suspense.

She grew up reading mystery, adventure, mythologies from around the world, ghost stories, the paranormal, fell in love with Dracula and Wolfman, and felt they needed loving too. Everyone should have someone to love. Which means her stories always have a HEA.

USA Today Bestseller residing in Central Texas from Sacramento, California who creates award-winning teddy bears too!

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!

Okay not sure when I bought this book from the used book store, but as always with Terry’s books I loved it!!!

The cover is sexy, and I love the jaguar and that Connor and Kat are included :)  It definitely attracted me into buying it especially with Terry’s name on it :)  I buy anything fantasy written by her :)  One day I may take the plunge into historical, but there is never enough time to read everything :)

I love Kat as a character.  She is brave and confident and doesn’t want to just sit around while everyone else does the protecting.  But my favorites are Maya and her twin brother, they are awesome how they stick together and go out on a limb for each other ;)  I’m hoping Maya’s story is next :)  There is plenty of action and conflict in this story to keep you hooked.

Terry does an awesome job of building the world because I was never bored reading it.  If I wasn’t watching my sister’s kids (4 of them), I’d have read this in one sitting :)

I highly recommend this book to my shifter loving friends, jaguar lovers & those who already love Terry Spear!!  Can’t wait to read more and since I have next book with me on vacation it will be soon!!!

A MURDER OF MAGPIES cover art

Besides the dream of seeing your book in print, one thing so many authors daydream about is what the cover will look like. I come from an artistic background. My grandmother was a watercolorist, and I actually spent time in college as an art major before switching first to forensic pathology (don’t ask—it obviously didn’t last) and eventually English. As someone who’s visual, I was excited and, to be honest, nervous for what Month9Books would come up with as the design for the cover of A MURDER OF MAGPIES.

Georgia McBride asked for my input, which I know is rare because so often authors don’t get much say, if any, in their cover art, but I still didn’t know what to expect. Yet when I saw it, I adored my cover. How could there be any other cover for A MURDER OF MAGPIES? The design brings in details like the cobblestone roads of the book’s setting, Black Orchard, Wisconsin. I could imagine walking down that road in the fog and knowing someone was watching. The antique-style light plays off Vayda’s family’s business in the antiques trade as well as her ability to take emotion and turn it into electricity. Then the bird . . . I love the bird’s position as it is hunched over to peck at the ground as if uncovering a secret, and this is a story where everyone has secrets.

FINAL_ A Murder of Magpies_Bromley
Winter in Black Orchard, Wisconsin, is long and dark, and sixteen-year-old Vayda Silver prays the snow will keep the truth and secrecy of the last two years buried. Hiding from the past with her father and twin brother, Vayda knows the rules: never return to the town of her mother’s murder, and never work a Mind Game where someone might see.
No one can know the toll emotions take on Vayda, how emotion becomes energy in her hands, or how she can’t control the destruction she causes. But it's not long before her powers can no longer be contained. The truth is dangerously close to being exposed, placing Vayda and her family at risk.
Until someone quiets the chaos inside her.
Unwanted. That's all Ward Ravenscroft has ever been. To cope, he numbs the pain of rejection by denying himself emotions of any kind. Yet Vayda stirs something in him. He can't explain the hold she has on him--inspiring him with both hope and fear. He claims not to scare easily, except he doesn't know what her powers can do. Yet.
Just as Vadya and Ward draw closer, she finds the past isn't so easily buried. And when it follows the Silvers to Black Orchard, it has murder in mind.

Review - Bearly Breathing by Lynn Red (The Jamesburg Shifters #4)

Bearly Breathing
The Jamesburg Shifters #4
by Lynn Red

Goodreads blurb:  ***Limited time - only 99c! Regular price 3.99!***

Bear-shifting, rogue biker Orion Samuelsson is on the run and nursing more than a little bottled up rage. For years, he’s been haunted by the cruel, brutal leader of his old club, the Dirty Devils. Love? Happiness? All distant fantasies. That is, until he lays eyes on a gold and black lynx-shifter dashing through a river.

Clea Kellen is the owner of Jamesburg's most popular daycare. And on top of that, she’s a lithe, witty, pointy-eared lynx shifter whose biological clock is tick-tick-ticking away. Even though she’s part-time mama to a whole bunch of bouncing cubs, one of her own is a forgotten dream. That is, until she catches a glimpse of a golden bear with pale brown eyes, watching her in the distance.

On a daycare camping trip, Clea’s whole world – in the form of a giant fir tree – comes crashing down. She dives to cover one of her cubs, sure she’s done for. When she finally opens her eyes, she can’t believe the massive, golden bear standing in only feet away with fire in his eyes and a tree on his back.

As he stares into Clea’s soul, straining under the fallen fir, Orion’s buried desire for a mate, and a family to call his own, burns deep in his heart. Right then, he knows he’s found her. He knows he won’t rest until she’s his, until he possesses her, takes her for his mate... forever.

But, with Orion on the run from his former gang, and Clea’s brain telling her to put on the brakes while her heart is screaming for her to hit the gas, will these two fated mates give in to love... and to each other?

***The Jamesburg Shifters is a series of standalone novels - NO CLIFFHANGERS HERE!***

***Okay I did volunteer to receive the ebook for an honest review, but while reading it I had to buy it for myself so I did :)

The cover is definitely yummy, but I wanted to see the tattoos.  I also think the bear should look more like described by the lovely Lynn, but that’s just my thinking :)

This is another awesome and action packed Jamesburg shifter book.  I thoroughly enjoyed reading :)  Lynn always has humor mixed into her books which I love.  I love when an author can make me tear up for a character’s pain or laugh out loud.  It is always great when you can connect enough with the story and characters to share their emotions.

This story with Clea and Orion was a great story.  Clea is a sweet heart when taking care of all the cubs, but will do anything to protect them and the ones she loves.  I love that she is vulnerable but strong all at the same time.  Orion is fierce but soft when it comes to Clea which I find endearing.  I particularly loved the lake scene, but you definitely need to read it because I don’t want to ruin it for you.  Atlas also has a happy ending, but you will have to read to see what it is.

I have really enjoyed this series (even though I haven’t yet read book 1, which is silly because I own it…lol) I recommend this series to all my shifter lovin’ friends especially if you already love Lynn Red, and I especially recommend to my friends who hate cliffhangers because Lynn doesn’t write those either :)

A Genie’s Fortune
Reluctant Mates #2
by Jane Wakely

Goodreads blurb:  Danica Weston enjoys her quiet, single life, content with being alone and making her own decisions. The horrors of the past have made her immune toward men, and her dreams of a family and a fairy tale ending disappeared a long time ago. When a man appears in her home, sent to protect her by the Council, she makes it clear they will never be anything more than friends.

Benjamin Darcy can’t believe the Council is forcing him to mate again. After the last episode, he’s through with mates, determined to live out the rest of his life alone. When he’s thrust into the petite human’s home, the sight of her melts his heart and all his plans go out the window. He offers her friendship and vows to protect her at all costs.

In order to sustain the numbers of all mythical beings, the Council, the governing body of the Mythical Realm, intervened and found prosperous matches for several of their subjects. Rather than create an act of treason punishable by death, Ben accepts his fate and embarks on his new life. Ben is unlike any man Dani has ever known, but fear from the past keeps her from taking a chance at happiness until she can no longer resist. When a mistake forces them apart, Dani must decide whether to live in the past, or embrace her strength and start living the life she always wanted.

The cover is beautiful, but it is missing the blue glow and his magical stone :)  I think that would have made it even more attractive to a reader :)

This is a novella that is about 60 or so pages and I read it in under 2 hours on the plane today.  Okay I really love Jane’s writing style.  I connected really well to the characters and got mad and cried with them.

Danica is unsure and so timid, but it was great to watch her blossom and grow while trying to learn to believe in her own HEA.  Ben is sexy and everything he does for Danica makes him even sexier.  I really loved both of these characters.  I can’t wait to see what Jane comes up with next in this series :)

I highly recommend this novella to those who love the paranormal romance type of stories.  This is a fantastic series that I will definitely continue to read.

Review - Wolver's Gold by Jacqueline Rhoades @JRhoadesAuthor (The Wolvers #5)

Wolver’s Gold
The Wolvers #5
by Jacqueline Rhoades

Goodreads Blurb:  Finding gold where you least expect it…

Lone wolf and Special Investigator for the ubiquitous Eugene Begley, Challenger McCall is sent to the town of Gold Gulch to take care of a problem that might involve the exposure of the wolver community. For McCall, it’s like stepping back in time - a hundred and fifty years back in time.
Gold Gulch is a tourist attraction where the wolvers take their work so seriously, they continue their Victorian lives long after the tourists have gone home. Much like their 19th century counterparts, the women are overworked and underpaid.
Rachel Kincaid is one such woman. Exercising the only power she holds, she has become a wolver oddity; a spinster who refuses to mate. Why would she, when she already has to take care of the short-staffed hotel, its restaurant and her ne’er-do-well father? Angry and bitter, Rachel decides she deserves a better hand than the one she’s been dealt and finds herself drawn to the handsome new sheriff, Challenger McCall. Why shouldn’t she, for once in her life, enjoy the same freedom as the Soiled Doves on the hill?
Things get complicated when Rachel's wolf awakens after a long sleep and the town's women seem to awaken along with it. Papa's gambling debts leave them on the brink; the pack is at risk; and the women rebel. Oh, and don't forget the murders. If ever a pack needed rescuing, Gold Gulch is it, but as the girls up at Daisy's Bouquet point out, - A smart woman needs to look after herself!

About the Author:  Jacqueline, known as Jackie to her friends, lives in rural southern Ohio with one lovable husband, one spoiled dog and one disinterested cat. She believes coffee is a food group and therefore necessary to survival. She always has a pot brewing. When not writing, she can usually be found with her nose in someone else's book or working in her garden. She also spends a great deal of time chasing deer and rabbits who apparently also like gardening.  Jackie loves hearing from her readers and is always willing to chat.

Okay this story was a western twist on the fabulous Wolver series.  This story is very action packed, and you learned some new things about this fabulous world.  I loved it all and especially the feisty Rachel who is sort of finding her way back to who she is and what a pack should really be.  Challenger is sexy and made me laugh a lot.  I loved when he was baiting Rachel.

I can’t wait to see where this series goes next because there are so many awesome communities and lots of possibilities for future stories to share with us.  Jackie did an awesome job as always with her details and descriptions.  You feel like you are in the story with the characters.  She really is an awesome writer :)  My mom loves her work too! I’m hoping I don’t have to wait too long for the next book :)

I highly recommend this series to all those shifter lovers out there :)  You will thoroughly enjoy this world :)
