Out of Chances
Taken by the Panther #2
by V.M. Black

Goodreads blurb:  The Second Installment of the Hit Serial Featuring a Sexy SEAL Shifter and a Tough, Curvy Heroine

Chay Bane’s years of experience tell him that Tara Morland is doomed, destined to lose against panther who took over her mind and transformed her body. But even though the former SEAL panther shifter has made a career of rescuing other shifters in trouble, his connection to Tara goes far beyond his role in freeing her from the military prison where she’d been confined. And from the moment he lays eyes on her, Chay is determined to save her—whatever the cost.

All Tara wants it to master the beast inside of her, and she finds herself as dependent on the brilliant hacker Chay as she is attracted to him. But there are terrible secrets in the Black Mesa facility where Chay spirits her away—secrets that can threaten her hard-won sanity and her life.

The Aethereal Bonds world presents sensual stories within a fully imagined urban fantasy world, replete with vampires, werewolves, demons, and faes.

About the Author:  I'm currently working exclusively in the Aethereal Bonds world, which I've mapped out to be big enough to let me tell all the different kinds of stories I want to share with readers. It's got vampires, demons, weres, faes and more--all sorts of creatures that are great fun to play with.
I live near Washington, D.C., with my family. A proud geek, I love fantasy, romance, science fiction, and historical fiction.  I’m a compulsive dreamer, and I feel spoiled to be able to make a career out of imagining things!

I like the cover, but not as much as the first book’s cover.  The panther and the man both seem less impressive on this cover.  Just gives me an underwhelmed impression of it.

Okay things you need to know, this is a serial, and it must be read in order to know what is going on.  It is somewhere around 90 to 100 pages I think.  Anyway, it is a quick read.

Okay, this shifter world is definitely different than most shifter worlds, but I’m still not completely sucked into it yet.  I feel bad for poor Tara because you imagine being a shifter as all roses and sunshine, but not so in this world.  She has a lot of struggles and strife.  I really like Chay, but I’m just not completely connected with all the characters.  I think because this is the first serial in this world I have read that, and it is only the second part.  I think it definitely has possibilities, and I can’t wait to see where it goes next :)

I think this book will really appeal to those readers who don’t want to read about perfect lives for those readers who like the realism mixed into their paranormal world :)
