Review @SaraDrake14 - Family Heir by Sara M. Drake (A Bigfoot Novel)

Family Heir
A Bigfoot Novel
by Sara M. Drake

Goodreads blurb:  Kelley longed for a normal life – to go to college, to have normal friends, and to work a nice desk job. When an unknown predator starts a killing spree, she finds herself drug back into a world that includes vampires, werewolves, and her ex-husband. Kelley agrees to lead the small team to find the murderer – which consists of one uncommunicative ex-hubbie and an inexperienced federal agent. Only shots in the night prove that Kelley has become a target and her training as a Hunter does nothing to prepare her for being hunted.

About the Author:  Sara developed her book addiction as a young child. Her concerned parents attempted an intervention and cut off her supply. These desperate times called for desperate measures forcing her to write her own stories. Since a human being cannot live on books alone, she has worked as a stage hand, care giver, active duty Air Force, college instructor, mental health counselor, and civil servant on the theory that more pay equals more books. Outside of that, she spends time developing a reputation as a crazy cat lady and irritating introvert.

The cover is mysterious, and it definitely draws my attention.

Okay this novel is around 300 pages, and I’m hoping it is a series but at this point I’m not sure :)

You learn so much about this fascinating world that Sara has created in this book.  Between the Families, the Hominids, the BHA, and everything else, there is so much going on.  There is also a lot of places where I was laughing my butt off at Kelley’s thought processes, and I was sad several times too.

Kelley is sort of a work in progress, but I think Troy and Brent are too.  They are not perfect, but they try to do what is best which I definitely admire.  I want to see more of them, and this fascinating new world that Sara has created.  I love how she shows that there is good and bad in everybody, and I like how moral issues are sort of mixed throughout as you read.  I hated when it ended because I need to know what happens with everyone next :)  I think this continues as a series that it will get better and better because building a new world takes more than just one book :)

I recommend this series to anyone who loves paranormal with a lot of stuff happening and lots of species where it is not limited to just shifters or just vampires.  I can’t wait to see what Sara comes up with next :)

Boneseeker
Arabella Holmes was born different and raised different. After it became apparent she wouldn’t fit the role of a proper 1900′s lady, her father, Sherlock, called in some lingering favors, and landed her a position at the Mutter Museum. The museum was Arabella’s dream; she was to become a purveyor of abnormal science. What her father called a BoneSeeker.
Henry Watson arrives at the Mutter Museum with a double assignment–to become a finder of abnormal antiquities and to watch over and keep Arabella Holmes. An easy task, if he could only get her to speak to him instead of throwing knives in his general direction.
But this is no time for child’s play. The two teens are assigned to a most secret exploration, when the hand of a Nephilim is unearthed in upstate New York. Soon, Arabella and Henry are caught in a fight for their lives as scientific debate swirls around them. Are the bones from a Neanderthal … or are they living proof of fallen angels, who supposedly mated with humans according to ancient scrolls?
Sent to recover the skeleton, they discover they are the second team to have been deployed and the entire first team is dead. And now they must trust their instincts and rely on one another in order to survive and uncover the truth.

Review @JessieDauthor - Revealing the Dragons by Jessie Donovan (Stonefire Dragons#9)

Revealing the Dragons
Stonefire Dragons #9
by Jessie Donovan

Goodreads blurb:  This novella is not a standalone. Please read the boxed set of Sacrificed to the Dragon first.

Melanie Hall-MacLeod finally releases her book about the dragon-shifters. The reception of her book, however, is anything but peaceful.

Tristan wants nothing more than to whisk his mate and two children off to safety, but Mel refuses to hide. As the danger increases and threatens his new family, Tristan battles the need to protect his mate with the need to make her happy.

Can Melanie and Tristan survive the strain between the new danger in their lives and their new twins? Or, will Tristan lose the battle with his inner dragon, surrender to his protective instincts, and take care of the threats at the cost of his mate?

About the Author:  Jessie Donovan wrote her first story at age five, and after discovering the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey in junior high, realized that people actually wanted to read stories like those floating around inside her head. From there on out, she was determined to tap into her over-active imagination and write a book someday.

After living abroad for five years and earning degrees in Japanese, Anthropology, and Secondary Education, she buckled down and finally wrote her first full-length book. While that story will never see the light of day, it laid the world-building groundwork of what would become her debut paranormal romance, Blaze of Secrets.

Jessie loves to interact with readers. When not reading or traipsing around some foreign country on a shoestring, can often be found on Facebook and Twitter.

The one thing you'll find in all of Jessie's stories are strong, capable women and the people who love them.

***Received the ebook from the author from an honest review

The cover is sexy and awesome! I would totally be drawn to pick it up in a bookstore :)

This is a novella length book.  This is for adults only since it has some really steamy sex scenes.  It is recommended by the author that you read the Sacrificed to the Dragon boxed set first before reading this, but I think if you love that set, you should go ahead and read the Seducing the Dragon set before reading this too!!  While you won’t be lost, I think you will be wondering about things that are mentioned which happened in the 2nd set :)

I really love Jessie’s writing style and especially this series.  I have loved them all and that is a feat all by itself because I usually have connection problems with serial series, but not with Jessie’s work.  Now this doesn’t mean that I don’t wish that each and every book was novel length because I never want her stories to end, but I have to take what I can get of this awesome dragon shifter world.

I haven’t bought this book yet, but I will :)  This is about Melanie’s book release.  Lots of action which I always love, and I had some tears mixed in because there is a rollercoaster of emotions in this one, but I love that too!  Great authors can make you cry without meaning too because you are so involved in the lives of the characters you read about!  Okay I totally ready for more of this series especially Arabella’s upcoming story!!

I highly recommend this series in its entirety to anyone who loves shifter romances especially if you are already partial to dragons :)

Review @TheAubreyRose - Bride to the Alpha by Aubrey Rose (The Wolf's Pet #2)

Bride to the Alpha
The Wolf’s Pet #2
by Aubrey Rose

Goodreads blurb:  What would you do to save your pack from war?

Held captive with the mark of the Scarred Prince’s pack freshly burned onto her neck, Kinaya is as scared as she’s ever been. And things are about to get a whole lot worse.

It can’t be the Calling. There’s no way that Kinaya would be fated to the greatest enemy of her pack. So why is it that whenever Alekk touches her, it’s like being struck by lightning?

As the pack marches toward war, Kinaya is struggling to keep her inner Wolf locked inside. Every time Alekk looks at her, she can’t help but think about the dark shadow in her dreams, the one she knows she is fated to. And she can’t help but imagine what would happen if they both lost control…

About the Authors:  Aubrey Rose lives in sunny San Diego, where she likes to lay around in a hammock reading her favorite romances. When she’s not writing steamy stories, she can be found dancing naked in front of the mirror to Abba while her cat watches disdainfully.

***Received the ebook for an honest review, but I already bought my own copy before reading the one given to me :)

The cover is the same just with this book’s name, so of course I still like it because Alekk looks good :)

This is a two part book, and both parts are published.  This book starts right where book 1 leaves off, and it is also of novella length.

This one was an emotional rollercoaster for me which is good, but I still feel silly when I’m crying while reading a book.  I really connected with Kinaya, and I love her strength with everything she goes through.  I understand Alekk more now, and he has redeemed himself in my eyes.

Aubrey’s descriptions and style made it easy to picture everything in my mind as I read which to me is a great author :)  I love when everything is vivid and alive when reading :)

I hated when it ended because I wanted more and to see what happens in future and what happen to Alekk in the past, but I’m sure there will be more in the future because doesn’t Blaise need his story told too :)  I’m definitely going to have to read the Blind Wolf series now too in the future.  I will be watching for more wolfy stories from Aubrey :)

I think if you love your wolf shifter stories that you should read both parts of this book and if you already love Aubrey you don’t want to miss this 2 part book :)

Serial Review @AuthorJSHope - Rapture by J.S. Hope (Lord of Misrule #4)

Rapture
Lord of Misrule #4
by J.S. Hope

Goodreads blurb:  From New York Times bestseller J. S. Hope comes the fourth part of her paranormal romance serial, Lord of Misrule!

Reporter Alessandra "Alex" Donati is in Venice chasing the story of her career. While the city prepares for the Christmas festivities, Alex is hot on the trail of a group that celebrates a much older - and much darker - festival, one that offers passion and sacrifice in exchange for power and wealth...

Returning from their impromptu raid of the local police precinct, the Goodfellows discover that Alex has vanished, seemingly into thin air.  Afraid for their friend's life, they set out to discover what happened to her and in the process take the battle directly to the enemy.

Alex, meanwhile, finds herself an unexpected "guest" of Sebastian Assante, who makes her an offer - attend the Festival as his honored guest so she can see for herself exactly what its all about.  It's an offer she can't refuse and soon she finds herself caught up in the passion and spectacle that the centuries-old event uses to snare the unwary...

About the Author:  J.S Hope is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Lord of Misrule serial and the Brothers Goodfellow series.

The cover is the same but in blue this time and looks awesome, but purple is still my favorite one :)

This is a serial novella series, and this is the 4th part.  This serial is not complete, so if you do not like waiting, you might want to hold off until the 5th part publishes and there is no waiting :)

The imagination and creativity in this series is amazing.  I know I’m not going to say this right, but of all the parts so far this is not my favorite, and I will tell you why.  I have lost some of respect I had for Alex’s character and maybe that caused more of a disconnect.  However, the brothers are awesome, and I love how they will do anything to save Alex.  I guess even though I love my strong female leads who save themselves…..I find it sexy when the men are just as strong and willing to go the extra mile :)

There is not much action in this part which could also have contributed to this not being my favorite because the other parts had action galore.  I do think the next part will clear some things up and probably make everything fit together that I’m probably not seeing right now, so I am definitely looking forward to more!!  I really want to learn more about the brothers and their parents….are they who I think they are or am I wrong?  Is there something more to these brothers than we know?  It is so intriguing but frustrating at the same time :)

I recommend this series to readers who want mystery and intrigue and especially if you have read the other parts and enjoyed them, you do not want to miss out :)

Review @DBReynoldsWrite - Betrayed by D.B. Reynolds (Vampires in America #5.5)

Betrayed
A Cyn and Raphael Novella
Vampires in America #5.5
by D.B. Reynolds

Goodreads blurb:  Love, the ache in your heart when you meet the one. It can take you to soaring heights; and it can leave you bleeding in the wreckage. Loyalty, the thing which binds a Vampire Lord to his children for eternity ... unless it rots from within, birthing hatred. Betrayal, it comes in many forms and from many sources ... love ... loyalty ... betrayal. War has come to the North American vampires, and Vampire Lords are reaching across territorial lines to strengthen allies and weaken enemies. The most powerful Lord of them all, Raphael, could change the course of the war and determine who raises the final banner of victory. But at what price? And will his mate, Cyn, be the one to pay it?

About the Author:  D.B. Reynolds is the award-winning author of the popular Vampires in America series, as well as other paranormal fiction. She lives with her husband of many years in a flammable canyon near Los Angeles, and when she's not writing her own books, she can usually be found reading someone else's.

The cover is very sexy with that look in Raphael’s eyes.

This is a novella that is about 90 pages, and it is about Raphael and Cyn.  This is an adult series with the sexual content it contains, so no kids or teens.

This story does not have as much action as D.B. full novel length books have, and this is added information that is mentioned in one of the other books, but no details were given in that book because they are all contained here.  It does give you information about Duncan’s replacement and Raphael’s relationship with Lucas too.  I think you definitely want to read this because if you are like me and reading a book and it mentions something happening that you don’t recall reading about…you may start thinking you have to go back and read all of the books again to see if you fell asleep…lol!  Okay really I just can’t stand not knowing….it is my curious nature…I just want to know :)

As always D.B. is just amazing with her descriptions and the story just comes alive.  She also writes sex scenes that make the pages smoke while you are reading them :)  I really do love this series, but I definitely prefer her action packed stories more :)

Even though you do not have to, I recommend reading them in order, so you can see everything happen and connect better with the world D.B. creates and its characters :)

I highly recommend this series to vamp lovers especially if you like complex storylines and lots of awesome characters.

New Release @authorsara - Vampires Never Cry Wolf by Sara Humphreys (Dead in the City #3)

Vampires Never Cry Wolf
Dead in the City #3
by Sara Humphreys

Goodreads blurb:  Sadie Pemberton is the DJ at the hottest vampire club in New York City, and she loves her freedom almost as much as she hates werewolves. She has no desire to tie herself to anyone for eternity—even the deliciously sexy Killian Bane—werewolf prince and heir apparent who has been sent to patrol the city.

But Sadie bears the mark of the moon—the mark that Killian has been looking for, the mark that's meant to reveal his perfect mate. How can the fates be so cruel? Even more importantly, how is he ever going to change her mind?

About the Author:  Sara has been a lover of both the paranormal and romance novels for years. Her sci-fi/fantasy/romance obsession began years ago with the TV Series STAR TREK and an enormous crush on Captain Kirk. That sci-fi obsession soon evolved into the love of all types of fantasy/paranormal; vampires, ghosts, werewolves, and of course shape shifters.

Sara is married to her college sweetheart, Will. They live in New York with their 4 boys. For a full list of Sara's books and series reading order, please visit HERE.

The cover is what attracted me to this book….very sexy and intriguing :)

Okay this is my first time reading Sara Humphreys and WOW, I’m not sure how I have missed her work up until this time :)  She pulled me right into the story and I didn’t want to put it down.  I was very annoyed when I had to stop to make dinner…lol!  The order on this series does not matter, but I bet it helps you connect with the series better if you do.  I will definitely be in the market for more books by Sara when I have the money especially to read the first two books in this series.  I also really want to read The Amoveo Legend series too :)

Alrighty :)  Sadie is amazingly snarky and strong female lead….just the way I like it :)  I love when she is honest and puts a certain sexy Alpha Prince in his place ;)  I also love Killian though he is everything I’d want in a sexy shifter.  He puts Sadie first and goes all caveman to protect her and worry about her.  She has had lots of changes and surprises in this book, but as always, you must read it to know more because I never want to ruin someone else’s book experience :)

I highly recommend to paranormal romance fans especially if you are already a fan of Sara.  I also think if you love Lynsay Sands, Kerrelyn Sparks, and Christine Feehan that you really need to add Sara Humphreys to the list :)
