Welcome to Dark Dates…

Dark Dates is a London-based dating agency that caters for humans and vampires, setting them up for consensual feeding. It’s run by Cassandra Bick, a Sensitive – who fast realises that when your business is this unusual, things can get very crazy very fast! Lots of people – both human and not – aren’t so keen on her idea that Others and humans should live alongside one another peacefully, and she get swept up in a deadly supernatural conflict.

I deliberately went for a Buffy-style ‘Scooby Gang’ in the books – in part, because I wanted to write about female friendships, not just romance, and in part, well, I’m a big fan of Buffy! So while Cass has a lot of enemies, she also has a lot of help, mainly from her colleague, Medea, a witch (yes, another Buffy reference!) and Medea’s girlfriend, Katie. Cass starts out a bit of a loner, but over the course of the books, she becomes good friends with the women – though it turns out Medea and Katie have plenty of problems of their own!

But there’s hot guys, right?

Of course! Cass’ on/off boyfriend Cain is a hunter who heartily disapproves of her business, and she also finds herself increasingly drawn into the circle of the vampire Laclos – one of London’s oldest and sexiest vampires. Throw in the fact that, as well as wooing Cass, Laclos makes no secret of his interest in her stake-and-shotgun wielding hunter beau, and this ain’t your usual love triangle…

What can I expect from the books?

Snark, sexiness, plenty of action and lots of humour, liberally littered with pop culture references and jokes about TV shows like Supernatural and Buffy.
