Joshua and The Lightning Road
Stay away from the window, don’t go outside when it’s storming and whatever you do, do not touch the orb.
Twelve-year-old Joshua Cooper’s grandpa has always warned him about the dangers of lightning. But Joshua never put much stock in his grandpa’s rumblings as anything more than the ravings of an old man with a vast imagination. Then one night, when Joshua and his best friend are home alone during a frightful storm, Joshua learns his grandpa was right. A bolt of lightning strikes his house and whisks away his best friend—possibly forever.
To get him back, Joshua must travel the Lightning Road to a dark place that steals children for energy. But getting back home and saving his friend won’t be easy, as Joshua must face the terrifying Child Collector and fend off ferocious and unnatural beasts intent on destroying him.
In this world, Joshua possesses powers he never knew he had, and soon, Joshua’s mission becomes more than a search for his friend. He means to send all the stolen children home—and doing so becomes the battle of his life.

Review @LRWLee - Resurrection of the Phoenix’s Grace by L.R.W. Lee (Andy Smithson #4)

Resurrection of the
Phoenix’s Grace
Andy Smithson #4
by L.R.W. Lee

Goodreads blurb:  When Andy landed back home, little did he realize the hunt Abaddon would initiate to capture and punish him for thwarting his plans for eternal life for yet a third time. Meanwhile, when Methuselah unexpectedly extends in Mom's hand while in Texas, something it has never done for him, it triggers more revelations about her past.

After a frustrating and, at times, terrifying year, Andy returns to Oomaldee and joins Hans’ quest to locate the only surviving heir to the throne of Cromlech. In the process, Andy and company discover the Giant’s Ring, the center of Cromlech’s healing powers, has been destroyed by Abaddon’s evil sorcerer. While unthinkable, the situation grows dire when Andy finds that the phoenix who rose from that land millennia before has returned to be reborn and the evil mage has trapped her inside the decimated Ring. Without the freedom to collect the materials she needs to build a pyre, she will die. Andy knows failure is not an option for he needs a feather from this phoenix as the next ingredient to break the curse.

With the clock ticking, will Andy and his friends free the phoenix in time? Will they be able to fix the Ring and restore Cromlech’s healing powers? Will Andy collect a phoenix feather?

About the Author:  Since the age of eight, L. R. W. Lee wanted to write a children’s book, but felt she did not have anything significant to share; she sought to change lives while entertaining. A degree in Accounting did not provide riveting fodder for a best seller, so she waited. Over a decade, she founded and grew a company, during which, she worked closely with a mentor from whom she learned uncommon thinking that changed her life. After selling her business in early 2012, she had time to write and, more importantly, something significant to share.

L. R. W. Lee lives in scenic Austin, TX with her husband, daughter and son.

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!!

***Received the ebook in exchange for an honest review

The cover definitely represents the book, and I think it would attract teens to pick it up if they are into fantasy type books :)

This is the fourth book in the series, and while each book is standalone, I think the readers would get more enjoyment if the series is read in order because of character building and dynamics between the characters is so much better if you know the characters from the beginning :)  This is definitely YA appropriate even for the middle grade students.

This story picks up where book 3 leaves off, and there is plenty of action, mystery, puzzles, old friends, and new friends to keep you entertained throughout.  L.R.W. does a great job with her descriptions where the pictures and scenes jump into your head, and I also like that she mixes plenty of humor and silliness in because it is just how students behave in real life :)  She also builds great lessons and morals into each book making it a richer read for the young people who read it.  Diligence, Courage, and Commitment are definitely things I want my son to see both in the real world and the things he reads.  I do not like to give away what happens, but you can know that this book like the others is Andy’s adventure into getting the next ingredient to breaking the curse.  There are plenty of battles and bad guy action throughout.  I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series.

I recommend this series to YA fantasy readers especially if you have read any of the series so far and enjoyed it, you will want to continue with the series :)

Fall Movie you’re most looking forward to? It's really next winter, but it's STAR WARS!!
Lisa, like most writers, began scribbling silly notes, stories, and poems at a very young age. Born in North Carolina, the South proved fertile ground to her imagination with its beautiful white sand beaches and red earth. In fifth grade, she wrote, directed and starred in a play “The Queen of the Nile” at school, despite the fact that she is decidedly un-Egyptian looking. Perhaps that’s why she went on to become a real life archaeologist?
Unexpectedly transplanted to Idaho as a teenager, Lisa learned to love the desert and the wide open skies out West. This is where her interest in cultures, both ancient and living, really took root, and she became a Great Basin archaeologist. However, the itch to write never did leave for long. Her first books became the middle grade fantasy trilogy, The Storyteller Series. Her first traditionally published work, Hush Puppy, is now available from Featherweight Press.
Lisa still lives in Idaho with her family and a menagerie of furry critters that includes way too many llamas!

Review @JessieDauthor - Healed by the Dragon: Part Three by Jessie Donovan (Stonefire Dragons#12)

Healed by the Dragon
Part Three
Stonefire Dragons #12
by Jessie Donovan

Goodreads blurb:  PART THREE (of Four)
Will Finn and Arabella ever have the chance to be together? Or, will members of Finn’s clan try to tear them apart?

17k / 18+, explicit language and sexual situations / Cliffhanger

About the Author:  Jessie Donovan wrote her first story at age five, and after discovering the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey in junior high, realized that people actually wanted to read stories like those floating around inside her head. From there on out, she was determined to tap into her over-active imagination and write a book someday.

After living abroad for five years and earning degrees in Japanese, Anthropology, and Secondary Education, she buckled down and finally wrote her first full-length book. While that story will never see the light of day, it laid the world-building groundwork of what would become her debut paranormal romance, Blaze of Secrets.

Jessie loves to interact with readers. When not reading or traipsing around some foreign country on a shoestring, can often be found on Facebook and Twitter.

The one thing you'll find in all of Jessie's stories are strong, capable women and the people who love them.

***Received the ebook from the author from an honest review

The cover is beautiful and totally perfect :)

Things you may want to know, this is a serial novella series that is not complete at this time.  What does all of this mean?  Well all the parts together equal a whole book, this book has four parts, but only three are published at this time.  I believe the last part will publish at the end of the month.  That being said, you should know this ends in a cliffhanger, and I was so not happy when it ended.  This is not to say that anything was wrong….just the waiting is killing me…lol

Jessie happens to be excellent at serial novellas, she stops that at appropriate (though frustrating) places, and her books always keep my attention where putting the book down is not an option.  She has such dynamic characters, and I love how we always have our favorites come back.  Her descriptions are awesome and make the story come alive in my imagination.

Arabella and Finn are awesome characters and alphas.  I can’t wait for the next part to see what happens.  This part does not have any battles or action; it is more drama type stuff though no trouble keeping my attention.  I’m betting Part Four is going to be action packed :)  I can’t wait!!!

I recommend the whole Stonefire Dragons series and reading them in order!  This makes for a much richer world and the characters come to life.  I also hate missing things, so reading all in order just makes it awesome :)  I highly recommend this series to dragon and dragon shifter lovers!!  Can’t wait for Part Four!!!

Review - Wolf Moon by A.D. Ryan (Blood Moon Trilogy #2)

Wolf Moon
Blood Moon Trilogy #2
A.D. Ryan

Goodreads blurb:  Having experienced more grief and tragedy than one person should have to bear in one lifetime, Detective Brooke Leighton has decided to leave her hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona. Along with her ex-boyfriend, Nick Evans, they make the trip to the Canadian Rockies where his Pack is located. Nick has promised her answers, and she knows that only he and the Pack can help her through this transition.

The change in scenery isn’t an instant fix, however.

Brooke still struggles with accepting what she’s become: a werewolf. Even more, she struggles with the knowledge that it cost her the life of the man she loved. Brooke lives with constant nightmares of that night, and the only thing that helps ease her suffering is the one who caused her the most seven years ago: Nick. She shares a connection with him that she can’t quite explain; at first, it’s nothing more than familiarity before these feelings of betrayal slowly revert back to love and trust.

As if trying to control her urges isn’t enough, when they arrive at the manor, Brooke is met with more challenges than she originally thought. A jealous female, an aggressive full-blood, and lies make adjusting to this life almost impossible.

When the vampire coven they thought was defeated declares war on the Pack, can they come together as a team to save themselves, or will the secrets Brooke uncovers drive a wedge between her and her newfound family before they even stand a chance?

About the Author:  A.D. Ryan resides in Edmonton, Alberta with her extremely supportive husband and children (two sons and a stepdaughter). Reading and writing have always been a big part of her life, and she hopes that her books will entertain countless others the way other authors have done for her. Even as a small child, she enjoyed creating new and interesting characters and moulding their worlds around them.

***Received the ebook for an honest review

The cover is beautiful and makes me want to pick the book up….all of it fits together perfectly :)

This book is book 2 in the trilogy.  It does end in a cliffhanger and book 3 is not out yet, so if this sort of thing bothers you, you may want to hold off on reading until book 3 is out.  This series is for adults only due to steamy scenes and violence.

This book is action packed and has plenty of mystery and drama.  This book picks up where book 1 ended.  I really like this series and can’t wait to read book 3 and see what happens next.  Brooke is working through everything that has happened.  She is thrown for loop after loop with all of the things happening to her.  I definitely feel for her.  She is definitely a stronger person than I am with everything that has and is happening.  Nick is pretty amazing, but like everyone, he makes quite a few mistakes.  I really like all of the new characters especially the Alpha and his family…I wasn’t fond of a her certain female at first…but like fungus, she has grown on me though she is just okay right now.

A.D. does an awesome job with her descriptions where everything jumps out at you.  The drama and plot twists make for a great story.  I’m betting the next book is going to be even better :)  I can’t wait to read it!!  While each book is standalone, I recommend reading the books in order because it makes the characters more rich as well as the story.

I recommend this series to wolf shifter fans.  I think anyone who enjoys reading about shifters will find something they like in this series :)
