Review @ChristineAmsden - Frozen by Christine Amsden (Cassie Scot #7)

Frozen
Cassie Scot #7
by Christine Amsden

Goodreads Blurb:  Apparently, life doesn’t end when you get married.

When a couple freezes to death on a fifty degree day, Cassie is called in to investigate. The couple ran a daycare out of their home, making preschoolers the key witnesses and even the prime suspects.

Two of those preschoolers are Cassie’s youngest siblings, suggesting conditions at home are worse than she feared. As Cassie struggles to care for her family, she must face the truth about her mother’s slide into depression, which seems to be taking the entire town with it.

Then Cassie, too, is attacked by the supernatural cold. She has to think fast to survive, and her actions cause a rift between her and her husband.

No, life doesn’t end after marriage. All hell can break loose at any time.

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I bought my own copy of this book too!

This is the 7th book in the Cassie Scot series!  I highly recommend reading the series in order because you want to know the history and stuff that has happened to characters throughout the journey!  I think the series is more for adults due to content and complexities of relationships.

I love this series and world.  It is complex, and it definitely takes a jog into the new and unknown in this book.  Strange things are happening in town, and as usual Cassie is asked by the Sherriff to help.  Cassie has missed some things about her family, but now she is noticing amidst all the chaos of the trouble that has found its way to the lake.  Her daughter Ana is adorable and a force to be reckoned with.  Cassie is having a lot of trouble with self-doubt, and it is starting to affect all of her relationships.  I love that the series isn’t over and that new things are happening!  I can’t wait to see what happens next to all of these characters because I’m very intrigued!

I highly recommend to any paranormal fan who loves mystery and intrigue with their magical users and creatures that go with it!

Review @Violet__Vaughn - Wildest Bear by V. Vaughn (Bewitched by the Bear #1)

Wildest Bear
A Shifters in Love Fun & Flirty Romance
Bewitched by the Bear #1
by V. Vaughn

Goodreads blurb:  Clan witch Tally knows she’s fortunate to have married Marcel. Before the alpha of the Ouellette clan allowed it, witch and werebear relationships were strictly forbidden. And now she realizes there may have been a very good reason for the rule. Their toddler twins are shifting in a clan where that doesn’t happen until after puberty. And it’s taking place in a world full of humans who don’t know werebear exist.

While Tally could try to use magic to control her children until they’re old enough to understand the implication of spontaneous shifting, it’s not foolproof. And it’s not a chance she’s willing to take, because the humans who do know werebear exist want them wiped off the planet. Now that Tally and Marcel’s twins are a danger to the clan, Tally must find a way to keep everyone safe. But she fears that because her children are half werebear being a witch might not be enough.

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!  I did buy my own copy!!

This is the first book in the Bewitched by the Bear series.  This is a novella length, and it is part of a serial season of her bears.  I have only read the Called by the Bear set so far, and I had no trouble picking this book up and reading and understanding what was going on.  Please be aware that will serials the endings can be like a cliffhanger, and it is not a complete book like a TV show it is only an episode of the story.

I really enjoyed this story, and I think I have already fallen for this family.  The twins are adorable.  I’m hoping none of Tally’s fear come true because I want her to get her happily ever after not just a happy for now.  There is some excitement, danger, and lots of fear and drama.  You will want to see what is happening with the family.  The alpha and his mate seem pretty cool though I don’t know much about either yet.

I recommend to all bear shifter fans who have enjoyed some or all of Violet’s other bear seasons because then you will enjoy this story too!

Review @PaigeTyler - X-Ops Exposed by Paige Tyler (X-Ops #8)

X-Ops Exposed
X-Ops #8
by Paige Tyler

Goodreads blurb:  HE LEFT TO KEEP HER SAFE
Believing he’s too dangerous to be among people, feline hybrid Tanner Howland retreats deep into the forests of Washington State—with no choice but to leave behind the woman who’s captured his heart. What he doesn’t know is that she followed him…

SHE WOULDN’T STAY BEHIND
Heartbroken and determined, Dr. Zarina Sokolov tracks Tanner into the wild. Her presence unleashes Tanner’s protective instinct—big time. Locals have been disappearing and he is desperate for Zarina to leave. As the kidnappings escalate, Tanner must embrace the dangerous instincts he fears so much. But with Zarina at his side, he’ll have to learn to control his animal impulses, or lose himself—and the woman he loves—to the beast within.

About the Author:  Paige is a USA Today Bestselling Author. She graduated from The
University of West Florida with a degree in education in 2000, but decided to pursue a full-time career as a writer in 2004. Since then, she’s written over fifty books in several genres, including paranormal,
contemporary, western, sci-fi and erotica. She loves writing about strong, sexy, alpha males and the feisty, independent women who fall for them. From verbal foreplay to sexual heat, her stories of romance, adventure, suspense, passion and true love will leave you breathlessly panting for more.

She and her very own military hero (also known as her husband) live on the beautiful Florida coast with their adorable fur baby (also known as their dog). Paige graduated with a degree in education, but decided to pursue her passion and write books about hunky alpha males and the kickbutt heroines who fall in love with them.

When not working on her latest book, Paige enjoys reading, jogging, P90X, Yoga, Pilates, going to the beach, watching NFL football, watching movies and hanging out with her husband (not necessarily in
that order!)

Some Fun Facts about Paige…

She loves anything and everything Disney related, and has pictures with every Disney character to prove it.

Her favorite Disney characters are Tigger, Pooh, Goofy and Tinkerbell.

She's addicted to dark chocolate, Pinterest and Sephora.

She'll tell you she's not exactly the outdoor type, but yet she loves the beach.

She studied ballet for twelve years.

She went to art school, and yes, figure drawing was her favorite class (probably because all the nude models were male!)

She collects Barbie Dolls, plush animals and Jim Shore Disney.

She's just as likely to have Rhianna, Lady Gaga, Pitbull, Ke$ha, Black Eyed Peas and LMFAO on her iPod as she is Billy Idol, Foreigner and Golden Earring (if you can dance to it, it's probably on there!)

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

The cover is perfection, and you can look at it to see why!

This is the 8th book in the series, and I haven’t read them all YET…someday I will!  I’m collecting them in paperback.  This book is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content.  You can read this book without having read them all.  I have only read 0.5, 1, 7, and now 8, but I will read more because I have them somewhere.

I really love everything the Paige packs into each and every book.  Shifter books are my favorite kind of books especially when it is mixed with bad guys that you love to hate, fighting for those you love, and intrigue galore.  Paige’s book has it all to pull you in and not let go!

I love both Tanner and Zarina!  They are both selfless to the point it hurts them both!  I think when you serve others that you will always take more responsibility than you should when things go bad.  Tanner has lived through so much, and I won’t go into details because you need to read it yourself.  There is so much going on in this book.  You have what’s going on in Washington, and then you have the stuff Tate is dealing with.  I mean it when I say action-packed!  There is a real hum dinger of an ending that leaves lots of questions what will happen next, and will there be new members joining the DCO?

I highly recommend to all shifter fans who love having evil bad buys to fight because action mixed with romance and love is amazing!  Can’t wait for more!

Review @ZoeChantebooks - Bear in a Bookshop by Zoe Chant (Bodyguard Shifters #3)

Bear in a Bookshop
Shifter Bodyguards #3
by Zoe Chant

Goodreads blurb:  He's all wrong for her.
So why do his arms feel so right?

When shy bookworm Melody daydreamed about her perfect man, "must love books" topped the list. She never dreamed of someone like Gunnar blowing into her neatly alphabetized and indexed world to turn it upside down. Finding out that her one true mate is an ex-con with a grade school education must be fate's idea of a cruel joke. Never mind that his kisses make her swoon and his touch turns her traitorous knees to jelly ...

Sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit, Gunnar is six and a half feet of gruff, dyslexic, tattooed bear shifter ex-con hiding a gentle heart. He knows he could be the man Melody deserves, if only she'll let him unleash the passionate woman hidden underneath her sexy librarian cardigans.

But with danger from both their pasts closing in fast, Gunnar is running out of time to prove to Melody that a good girl and a guy from the wrong side of the tracks just might be able to write their own happy ending.

A sweet and funny paranormal romance building to a thrilling climax, #3 in the Bodyguard Shifters series. All books in the series are standalones with a guaranteed HEA, and can be read in any order.

About the Author:  Zoe Chant loves writing paranormal romance. Over a cup of tea (or something stronger) she whips up sexy tales of hunky heroes and adventurous heroines to tantalize and satisfy her readers. Sizzling hot romance, no cliffhangers!

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!  I buy all of Zoe Chant’s books because I love her HEAs and her style of writing!  I do own this whole series!

This is the 3rd book in the series, and it is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content.  While not required, I highly recommend reading the whole series in order because the world and characters are just so much more together!

This story made me cry because Gunnar really is amazing, and Melody judged him sometimes like people do based on a fact or two but mostly against what she thought her ideal was.  Gunnar holds a place dear in my heart because he is dyslexic and people don’t understand when you are trying to learn how hard it can be to remember words, spelling, reading, and it overwhelms some of the hardest workers to the point they give up on trying or start thinking they aren’t smart enough.  As a teacher this breaks my heart and as a mom it is worse when you can’t make it better.  Gunnar has made some bad choices, and even when he didn’t do anything wrong, he pushes through.  I think both Melody and Gunnar save each other in many ways.  I loved this story for all of these reasons and more!  Also don’t anger a dragon because it just doesn’t end well!

I highly recommend to all shifter fans who love HEAs and people opening their hearts!  Shout out to all those who struggle with dyslexia and how they uniquely process things, don’t give up!!

Review @LeislLeighton - Pack Bound by Leisl Leighton (Pack Bound #1)

Pack Bound
Pack Bound #1
by Leisl Leighton

Goodreads blurb:  One pack, one coven, a destiny intertwined...

Five hundred years ago, facing extinction, a group of powerful witches united to create a pact with the Were to save witch–kind. The pact expelled an ancient evil, known only as the Darkness, that was blocking the Were from their wolves. With the Darkness destroyed, the Packs and their Covens grew strong as they thrived beside each other in their brand–new world.

But the Darkness was not destroyed.

Skye Collins has been brought up to fear her magic and shy away from witch and Were alike. But when Jason McVale, the Alpha of Pack McVale, comes in search of her, she is intrigued and tempted. Her mistrust of magic and wariness of the intensity of passion she shares with Jason threatens her control–and if she loses control, she just might turn into the weapon the Darkness intended her to become all along.

About the Author:  I am a tall red head with an overly large imagination who can talk the hind leg off a donkey, so it came as no surprise to my family that I completely fell in love with Anne of Green Gables when my Nanna gave it to me for my tenth birthday. I too was a dreamer, who at times was overly dramatic and lived my life vicariously through the worlds written by others and in my own dreams.

I read voraciously as a child and still do, everything from fantasy (Raymond E. Feist, Katherine Kerr, Jani Wurts), paranormal (Nalini Singh and Sherrilyn Kenyon), sci-fi (Anne McAffrey, Douglas Adams), YA (Hunger Games, Vampire Academy, Fallen, Twilight, Harry Potter), romantic historical (Anne Gracie, Courtney Milan, Mary Balogh, Julia Quinn, MM Kaye, Johanna Lindsey and LaVyrle Spencer) and romantic suspense (you can’t go past Nora Roberts), not to mention the classics (Austen, Bronte, Louisa May Alcott, LM Montgomery and of course, Shakespeare) as well as many others – the list could go on (I did say voracious!) As if this wasn’t enough, I did a double major in English Literature and Drama/Theatre Studies – two majors with more reading than pretty much any other. My friends thought I was nuts. I just thought it was normal.

My imagination and overly dramatic side led me toward drama and music. I come from a family of singers and musicians, and I got this gene in spades. If I’m not talking, I’m singing. I turned to the stage for a while, acting, singing and dancing (the latter not so well) as well as script writing, stage managing and musical directing. I loved every minute of it. But being a stolid Capricorn at heart, and liking to be in charge, I started up my own Theatre Restaurant with a couple of partners where I could indulge my creative side and maintain some certainty. After closing down the theatre restaurant for personal reasons (having run it successfully for six years) and starting a family, I internalised my creativity and started writing the stories I’d always dreamed.

Now I get to live a part of every day in the fantasy worlds my brain creates at night when I’m asleep, which is a joy I love sharing with others. I love it when my characters (vampires, werewolves, shifters, witches, warlocks, angels, fairies, elves, timetravellers, gods and goddesses, inter-dimensional beings and hunters, rock stars, music producers, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers and friends) take me on a journey with them and allow me into their passions, desires, their hopes and dreams, not to mention their hot and sizzling romances. I love a happy ever after.

In my normal life, I raise my kids with my lovely hubby, have two dogs, Buffy and Skye, and spend time with my loving and supportive family and all my understanding friends – who still think I’m a little nuts. I sometimes sing in a choir or do the occasional gig, tinkle on the piano once in a blue moon and work at a YMCA in customer service and admin as well as swim teaching. I love Sci-Fi chanel, Dr Who, Grimm, Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, Orphan Black, am a huge Buffy and Angel fan, and watch Bones and all the Marvel Movies with my sons. People often ask me when I get the time to write and I say to them, if you love something, you find a way to do it. I love writing… enough said!

Most of all, I hope that readers enjoy my novels as much as I enjoyed writing them.

My Pack Bound Series is out now.

Dangerous Echoes – book 1 of the Echo Springs Series – is out later this year (more to come soon on this!)

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!  I did buy this book, and I hope to buy the rest of the series too when I can.

This is my first time reading this author’s work, and it is also the first book in the series.  This is definitely an adult book with violence and steamy content.  A thing of note that you may want to know, I did have to look up some words because this author is from Australia, so at least for me, I didn’t know some of the words until I looked them up.  I don’t have a problem with this because learning is lifelong, and I love it.

This world is exciting for me because it is set in Australia, and it is interesting that Witches and Weres are bound together to survive.  I found the premise very cool.  This book has a lot of mystery and intrigue, and things I just didn’t see coming with all the twists and turns.  I love when I can’t predict what is happening.  I really like Skye because she goes through a lot, and she could quit or give up, but she doesn’t.  Jason, Adam, and Tom are awesome, and I loved their characters.  I’m hoping to see more of them all in the next book.  Of course, there are evil bad guys, but can you figure out who they are.

I recommend to all shifter and witch fans because this is an intriguing story with tons going on and a new spin that you will love!  I can’t wait for the next book!  I think the series will get better and better!
