My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 unicorns - I really liked it!!

I’m starting with things readers usually want to know about.  This is a collection of 9 stories most very short, but all part of the Vampires in America series.  I had started reading Betrayed, and it mentioned something happening that I never read about.  After some research I realized that I hadn’t bought and read these short stories yet, and this is what the missing information was.  So I rushed to buy it, and got to reading it!! Some of the short stories are basically just really steamy sex scenes, but not all.  If my mom read this book, she would probably fast forward through half of it, but I like those scenes.  I’m not a big reader of short stories.  My favorite stories in this collection were the longer.

As always, D.B. is amazing with her descriptions making all the stories come alive, and I was totally chuckling throughout as the vampire lords freak out at the mates getting together and never knowing what they would get into next together or advise each other about many things.  All of my favorite characters were part of these stories which made this that much better :)

I highly recommend if you love this series that you have to read this or you will be missing things, and I don’t like to miss anything :)  I’m off to read :)

The cover is subdued, but intriguing all at the same time.

This is the first book I’ve read by Rebekah, and I’m definitely going to be reading more in the future especially in this series that I’m now hooked on :)  Rebekah builds a wonderful world full of intrigue, prophesies, and in need of healing.  I love the undercurrent of the fairytale Little Red Riding Hood!  And I see the same undercurrent is probably in book 2 as well :)

When I first started reading the book, I was disconnected.  I’m not sure if it was just getting to know the new author’s style or building the new world.  This happens for me sometimes, but I’m definitely quite taken with this series and plan to read more.  Red is this amazingly strong woman, but she has blinders on so to speak.  She is definitely stubborn and so much so I was yelling at her in my mind while I was reading several times.  Adrian is sexy and just as stubborn but haunted by his family’s past misdeeds.  By the end, I was totally on Red and Adrian’s side, and I hope I will see more of them in the series because I become attached to my characters and like to see them in the rest of the series even though I know they will not be the focus of the book :)  I’m going to have to get my hands on book 2 very soon :)

I recommend this book to paranormal fans of shifters and vampires and to anyone who loves to see new stories evolve from very old fairytales :)

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!

The cover is nice, but not my favorite picture for Bram.  He doesn’t look like the big strong dragon shifter he should, but this is my opinion.

Okay, this is a serial novella series and with the publication of this book it is now complete, and I heard a boxed set it coming soon :)  Serial mean is a published in parts and all the parts together equal a whole book.  Jessie Donovan is fantastic at writing serials because not everyone can do what she does so well.  This is also a HEA which means it has a happily ever after type ending to the serial….though with dragon hunter threats never going away, I’d wager it is more HFN which is happy for now.

Jessie’s writing style is so easy to get sucked into and imagine being right there in the action.  Her descriptions and creativity just amaze me.  I wish I could be this creativity, but I’m not so I’m just continue to be a bookaholic :)

Lots of action and conflict with the dragon hunters making you want to devour the book.  Evie is really amazing with her brilliance and clear headed problem solving.  She knows how to handle both dragons and dragon hunters.  Bram has amazing strength, and he is a great leader.  Evie is his perfect match.  But shifter books are my go to reads, so I’m a bit biased too :)

I highly recommend this serial series to all of Jessie’s current fans and to all those who love a good shifter read!!
