About the Author:  Jessie Donovan wrote her first story at age five, and after discovering the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey in junior high, realized that people actually wanted to read stories like those floating around inside her head. From there on out, she was determined to tap into her over-active imagination and write a book someday.

After living abroad for five years and earning degrees in Japanese, Anthropology, and Secondary Education, she buckled down and finally wrote her first full-length book. While that story will never see the light of day, it laid the world-building groundwork of what would become her debut paranormal romance, Blaze of Secrets.

Jessie loves to interact with readers. When not reading or traipsing around some foreign country on a shoestring, can often be found on Facebook and Twitter.

The one thing you'll find in all of Jessie's stories are strong, capable women and the people who love them.

***Received the ebook from the author from an honest review

The cover is definitely very cool and nice to look at, but the covers are always great with this series :)

This is the 3rd part of this serial.  This means that is it only part of the whole book, and it also means you need to read it in order if you want to understand.  I highly recommend reading the whole series in its entirety in order because it makes it that much better because you know the history as it goes along and have a more comprehensive knowledge of characters and their history :)  It is for adults only due to the adult steamy content, and this serial is not complete yet, so if you don’t like cliffhangers, you might want to stockpile the parts until it is (one more to go) :)

This is still Kai and Jane’s story.  This part did not have much in the way of fighting and action, but there was plenty of drama and building up, I can’t wait to see what happens :)

I recommend this serial to my dragon lovin’ friends especially if you have read any of the other Stonefire dragon books and liked them.  Jessie Donovan is the Queen of awesome serials :)

Nobody's-Goddess-Cover

In a village of masked men, magic compels each man to love only one woman and to follow the commands of his “goddess” without question. A woman may reject the only man who will love her if she pleases, but she will be alone forever. And a man must stay masked until his goddess returns his love—and if she can’t or won’t, he remains masked forever.
Seventeen-year-old Noll isn't in the mood to celebrate. Her childhood friends have paired off and her closest companion, Jurij, found his goddess in Noll’s own sister. Desperate to find a way to break this ancient spell, Noll instead discovers why no man has ever chosen her.
Thus begins a dangerous game between the choice of woman versus the magic of man. And the stakes are no less than freedom and happiness, life and death—and neither is willing to lose.

To Bear an Iron Key is the first in a new and exciting series from acclaimed author Jackie Morse Kessler.
Five years ago, the young witch Bromwyn refused a gift from the powerful fairy king. Tonight, on Midsummer, that decision comes back to haunt her. When her best friend Rusty picks the wrong pocket, he and Bromwyn are all that stand between their village and the rampaging fairies who have pushed through the World Door. If they cannot outwit the fairy king and queen before the World Door closes at sunrise, the friends will lose everything—their village, Bromwyn's magic, and Rusty's life.
From To Bear an Iron Key by Jackie Morse Kessler: "Bromwyn turned to face the burning fields. Reaching deep inside of herself, she closed her eyes and touched the core of her power, the place where her magic lived, where it connected her to all of Nature. She held onto that magic, let it fill her almost to the bursting point, and then she cast it out onto the fields. It blanketed the rows of spelt, and she felt as it rode the wind—Air—and then touched the grain—Earth—and then sizzled around the fire."

Jackie Morse Kessler grew up in Brooklyn, NY, with a cranky cat and overflowing shelves filled with dolls and books. Now she’s in Upstate NY with another cranky cat, a loving husband, two sons, and overflowing shelves filled with dragons and books (except when her sons steal her dragons). She has a bachelor’s degree in English and American Literature, and yet she’s never read any Jane Austen (with or without zombies). She also has a master’s degree in media ecology. (The living study of technology and culture. Which is cool, but she still can’t figure out how to use Tweetdeck.)
Jackie spends a lot of time writing, reading, and getting distracted by bright and shiny new ideas. (She just came up with a new idea right now.) She has a weakness for chocolate and a tendency to let her cat take over her office chair.

The-Emissary-Cover

For hundreds of years, dark clouds covered the skies of Adamah, and an ageless king ruled. Those who emerged with one of six extraordinary Shay powers were forced into the king’s army, an unmatched force with inhuman Strength, Speed, Accuracy, Perception, Empathy, and Healing. With the army behind him, the king—a man who wields all six abilities—was invincible and unquestioned in his rule. To most, serving the king was an honor. But for others, it was a fate worse than death.
When seventeen-year-old Nolan Trividar witnesses the transformation of his brother from kind to cruel after entering the king’s army, he vows never to follow the same path. So when his own power—the Shay of Accuracy—comes upon him at the Tournament of Awakening, Nolan conceals his emergence instead of joining the king’s ranks. For years, he traitorously hides his power, pretending to be only a gifted scribe. But when Nolan comes face -to-face with a deserter, the man discovers his secret. To evade detection and a death sentence, Nolan escapes with the deserter and flees into a night filled with dark creatures who steal both powers and souls. He joins a resistance, a village hidden deep in the forest, filled with others who secretly wield a Shay. But his peace is short-lived when they discover that the dark clouds, undead creatures, their own decreasing powers, and even the king, are all connected.

Chase dropped to the ground on her right, landing light as a cat before straightening to his full height and stepping close.  “You’re not so good at listening, let’s see how good you are with your mouth,” he smirked.  Closing the distance between them, he leaned down to kiss her, giving her no opportunity to pull away.

Millie opened her mouth to retort, her reply cut off to little more than a squeak as his mouth closed over hers.  Who the hell did he think he was?  A wolf… a little voice deep inside reminded as she tasted his hunger.  Awareness flushed through her body as Chase pressed her against the length of him, trapping her body between his and the tree.  Everything about him was hard and unyielding, but he didn’t punish her with his strength, he merely kept her from escaping while he explored the dark secrets of her mouth at his leisure.  Amelia’s initial hesitation quickly disappeared, the blood singing in her veins as her arousal spread like wildfire wherever their bodies touched.

Still, a smidgen of self control remained and Millie shoved at his chest, desperate to create a little space between them.  Chase barely gave an inch, blazing a trail of kisses along the curve of her jaw toward the smooth column of her throat.

“What are you doing?” she demanded, even as her fingers slid up to curl around the collar of his shirt, pulling him closer.

“Showing you how dangerous the night can be.”

His kiss was everything wild and dangerous about the night as promised, and a secret part of herself she didn’t even know existed responded to the predator who took what he wanted, instead of asking permission as society dictated.  No thought for consequences or the future, Chase operated on a purely sensual level.  She could feel it in the way the energy thrummed from his body to hers.  It made her forget the party in full swing just a few feet away, forget her objections to being manhandled altogether.  Somewhere in the back of her mind that bothered her in a big way, and a flare of panic went through her as he touched bare skin.

“Wait…” she panted, breaking the kiss and drawing in a ragged breath.

“Relax.”  Chase made no move to let her go, lips brushing over the sensitive spot where neck met shoulder.

“We should get back to the party.”

“I warned you not to stray into the dark woods unprotected.”  His teeth scraped lightly over her flesh in a love bite, and Millie hoped it wouldn’t leave a mark.  That was the last thing she wanted to explain to Gran.

“You were the one who was supposed to protect me, remember?”

“I am protecting you,” he insisted.

“How, by mauling me out in the woods yourself?” Millie demanded, pulling her head away to try and catch his gaze.

“I am keeping you safe by making you mine,” Chase replied as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

“Who says I’m yours?”

That brought him up short.  “Is there someone else?”

“Well, no, but…”

“Then what’s the problem?”  His sexy grin reappeared.

“The problem is, I just met you yesterday, Chase.  I don’t work that fast.”

“You can’t fight your destiny, Amelie.  You know we belong together.”

“Don’t call me that,” she snapped irritably.  Chase seemed unperturbed, stroking his fingers down the bare skin of her back, making her shiver with delight.  It took Amelia a long moment to focus her thoughts again before she could reply.  “Just because you’re a good kisser, doesn’t make you my destiny.  Besides, what about Leah?”

“What about her?”  He stared back blankly.

“Aren’t you and she…?”

Chase gave an inelegant snort.  “That was never anything serious.”

“Does she know that?  Because if looks could kill…”

“She knew exactly what she was getting into.”

Millie turned that over in her head for a moment, trying to decide exactly what he meant by that.  “Look…”  She stole a deep, calming breath.  “I like you Chase.  I’d like to get to know you better, but I don’t belong to anyone but myself.  That’s about all I’m offering right now.  If that’s not enough…”  She shook her head.

Chase stared back at her for a long moment, and then the tension went out of his body and he found his smile again.  “Alright, that’ll have to be enough for now.  I’m a patient man, Millie – up to a certain point,” he replied, tilting her chin up and placing an almost chaste kiss to her lips.  “So, if you’re not going to let me steal your virtue out here, let’s get back to the party.  And no more wandering off, you understand?”

“Okay, okay,” she grumbled, trusting the darkness to hide her eye roll.  “I read you loud and clear.”  She accepted his hand for the walk back to the party.

“Good, I’d hate to have to give you another lesson.”

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!

***Received a copy of the ebook for an honest review

The new cover is awesome and definitely fits the book.  It would definitely entice me to pick it up off the shelf :)

This is the first book in what I hope is a series I will see more of :)  It is novel length and even though I have read it marked at young adult, I say it is definitely more new adult since the main character is 21 years old.  This is also the first book of Lisa’s that I have read which is weird because I own a whole bunch of her books that I need to get to reading soon :)

This is Millie’s story.  Her life has been sheltered, and she is na├»ve to the world she belongs too.  This is her story of growth and learning about her world.  Chase is the golden boy, but he is also arrogant and makes me want to slap him throughout the book, but at the very end, he redeems himself thanks to Scarlet.  Scarlet rocks and she is Millie’s rock and friend throughout.  Adele….well she is not my favorite, but you will have to read to see why :)  Cutter is something else, but from the beginning, I just loved him through everything.  There is plenty of action, drama, mystery, fighting, betrayal, and so much more to keep you entranced while reading.  I completely loved it and was pulled right into the story.  Lisa’s descriptions, characters, and story made this book wonderful, and it has definitely put her on my radar as an author I need to read more of :)  I know my mom has read the first 4 book in the bloodlines series and loved them, so I know where I will go next!!!

I highly recommend this book to wolf shifter lovers especially if you already love Lisa’s writing!!!
